I see the government has just given the go ahead to Angling after banning it. This will please the anglers amongst our funsters. It is to be treated as exercise. I am in agreement with this, and in my opinion golf should be included as well.

I am an active angler. The problem using commercial fisheries is the number of people that the owners are having to deal with. Yes as an angler you only deal with one person at distance when you arrive at the fishery then sit on your own through the day. That same person will then deal with another number of people during the day who need to pay. So that person is in greater risk and is why many fisheries are not reopening. This would also apply to golf. The players yes are in two balls. But multiply those two balls through the pro shop booking in and paying and the risk to staff is high.

I appreciate that that risk also applies to all who work in our supermarkets and other businesses that are open to support everyone. So although as an individual I will be happy sitting on the bank but the risk can be higher to some.
I am lucky in that my local fishery require you to book on line and pay so there is no direct contact with the owner and no contact during the day.

Sea angling, you just sit all on your lonesome so no contact what so ever.

Our club waters stopped day tickets after first lockdown until this is all over (hopefully) and it is members only.

If you are a member of a golf club you don't actually pay for individual rounds. At our club you book your rounds on line and then just turn up and go to the tee at your time so no mixing with anyone.

The only time it has been necessary to book in was for competitions and those had already been cancelled.

Great we can torment something again.

The strongest view in Broken Link Removed is that your property needs to back onto a lake, river or beach to be legal exercise.

But until “staying local for exercise” has a legal definition my understanding is: you can drive to exercise but do stay within you local area rather than crossing tier, county or parish boundaries 🤔

I think shut everything at the moment. If people travel more they refuel more they are tempted to go with their mate they go potentially to buy bait or buy a ticket etc etc. I think the same goes for lots of other stuff too when we have over a thousand dead a day why is anyone worried about not being able to fish (by the way I do fish)

Out on the beach by my house last night.
5 layers of clothing.
3 hours in -3c temperature
Two tiny whiting for the effort.
Why oh why didn’t they ban it.😉😉
No way, during the day with whatever heat the sun gives for me. Was going out today but took one look at the white stuff and said, Monday looks good. Monday it is forecast 8* bit warmer than -3.

It’s freezing here today - dog sulking until I lit fire and gave him a blanket!

Makes as much sense as allowing football matches to take place IMO.
Totally agree Andrew maybe it should be the same televised professional angling only if there is any!
Mortimer and Reeves was great over Christmas
