Amazon firestick

Currently using chromecast in van but have to remember to unplug and bring it with us as its used at home. So thinking of getting another unit. Chromecast needs it own power which aint an issue as we have a spare usb at back of van.
That said I believe firestick may be a better option as been told the avtex tv will power the firestick.
Can anyone confirm this?
Also has anyone got the 4k stick rather than the normal stick? Since only £5 more thinking my just get the 4k version.

Yes the Firestick will work fine using the usb from an Avtex TV to power it .

Is it the older chromecast you are using? As I see there is a new one out that is more like the firestick i.e for streaming and catch up etc. It can also be modified to view paid for channels like the firestick can.

I was interested in it but the price is putting me off at 80 odd quid.

Agreed - the 4k is lightyears faster than my original Firestick and takes a VPN if necessary
