Not Long Enough...!!
Is anyone using this device in your Motorhome just using Hotspot from a Phone wifi.

Streaming would be fine, not too bothered about pre recording.

Also which one is decent and any members have one for sale.

I have a small MIFI from Huawei. That is where my phone signal comes in. Amazon stick connects to it. Sorted.
The Amazon stick does need an additional USB port nearby if the TV doesn't have one. Assuming you want to stream to your TV?

Fire sticks are regularly on special offer from Amazon at about £20. They can connect to any source eg MiFi, wifi or phone hotspot. They can be powered by the usb on the tv, by 12v adapter or by 240v adapter. We use one in the motorhome connected to either the WiFi booster, site WiFi, or the MiFi. Have never needed to use it with my phone but could do. Brilliant bit of kit - so easy to use! We have them on each tv in the house too!

We have one and it is a versatile little box for streaming, we did not have a sat dish fitted on this van as a result. We uses a combination of WiFi and Cellular connectivity through one router to feed the Fire stick and other internet connectivity. Of course we can use all the apps that are on the Fire stick including PLEX which we use to access our home server media which uses PLEX server.

we have used ours in France (aswell as the UK), both on the campsite wifi and on aires. so long as you have a decent signal to stream with and access to data.

Data and signal are the key to being able to watch via streaming, Our plan is to watch bog standard tv via the satellite and anything 'extra' by using the firestick to reduce data usage, where data is not unlimited You can also set the firestick up to only play in standard definition, which reduces the amount of data you use

This has been our world in France since lockdown started. Wish we were less addicted to Ozarks on Netflix

I use a Firestick and firetv for all tv viewing, also I’ve installed app called PowerTV and pay a few quid for 12 months tv and get the lot.

The 4k Firestick is twice the price, if your telly hasn't got this buy the standard one.
The only thing I would add to that is that the WiFi antenna is by far better in the the 4K fire stick, it has more memory and a faster processor......

Just a word of warning, as you specifically said in your Motorhome. Most sites and stopping points are away from built up areas so the mobile phone reception is often poor. I always check for that before I decide where to stop. Also, site wifi tends to be slow and only available near to the clubhouse, so you need to check that if it's part of your plans. Firesticks only work if you have reception.

i would wait and get the 4k firestick when its on offer ! the firestick version 1 is sooooo much slower than the 4k one, in terms of responding to the remote etc

We just need it to be put on offer now (y)
I have an older version 1 as a hand me down from daughter but it`s play up now with a flickering screen.
I`ll buy the 4k when it`s next on offer

I use a Firestick 4K, bought last year when on offer for £24.99, feed it via my HUAWEI MiFi, at present, in my drive, I’m getting 4 bars of 4g on a Smarty (3) sim. The only thing I can’t seem to get for free is channel 4 live streaming, I like their 7 o’clock News, but the Firestick C4 app doesn’t support this but the iPad app does?? So very pleased with it, I don’t have a fixed tv antenna but do have a portable satellite dish which is gathering dust!

We use the 4K one and it works perfectly using my phone hotspot for Prime and Netflix, I'm trying to find a way to sideload the Virgin Go app onto it so i can watch my sports and other programs, no luck yet though so if anyone knows how to please post details.

I have side load Virgin TV to Go onto our Firesticks in the House and MH quite simple to do just need a couple of App and away you go
1 Put Virgin TV to GO app on the Phone
2 Install APPs to Fire App on the Phone
3 Install the App Mouse Toggle for Fire Stick on the Phone

Then on the fire Stick follow the instructions from the APP to Fire to open developer option on the fire stick to enable ADB over Network this will then let install the Virgin TV to GO app onto the fibre stick, then you have to install the Mouse Toggle App,
You will find that the picture is squashed when the Virgin TV app starts but once you have selected the Channel it fine as the App was designed to work on Phones

You need to have the Phone and Fire Stick on the same network to do this,

This will let you watch all Virgin TV like at Home apart from BBC which you watch via IPLAYER
I use it to watch BT sport and Eurosport when in MH to watch the Motor bikes
feel free to PM if you need help doing it

Phil

Does it seem squashed or distorted on the stick? Yet play fine when you select to view?

Hi yes it is squashed to start with because it was meant to watched on Phone or tablet

I've used mine in the van and it works fine. Haven't used it for a while now though due to the current climate

I've been using one in the van for years. I have a tablet with 4g which I use as a hotpot for the van. On ee you can share your data between devices so if we run out on the tablet I can transfer data from one of our phones.
An episode of the x files uses about 1GB of data just for reference. But you can use it to stream music too which uses much less data.
I use an inverter when we have no hookup, which I plug the firestick and TV into.

We do exactly that -fire stick connected to our iPhone hotspot - works a treat, providing we have a 4G service
