Just had a man with a foreign accent come to my door and ask me if i wanted to sell my motorhome - currently parked in my driveway. I said no. Suspicious? Or am I just being paranoid?...I have a steering wheel lock and have also padlocked the driving seat in reverse position. I mention the accent to say he was obviously not a local person.
I would guess it should be safe as why would he let me see him & speak to him. Surely if it was in danger of being stolen, he wouldn't want anyone to know what he looked like?....Right?

I get them all the time. As said on here before, if they were going to nick it, they wouldn't knock on you door first 😉

Janine,
1. The person who knocks on your door will NOT be the person who steals your Pride and Joy.

However, by knocking on your door, and dependant on the circumstances, he/she may get the opportunity to
get close enough, in broad daylight, and legitimately??? to observe at very close quarters your vehicle,
what deterrents are fixed to the vehicle and importantly, what opposition he/she may come up against
when the attempt to steal takes place.

That is why I treat as suspicious, all 'Knocks'.

I’d be unsettled too. You don’t keep keys in view of your door do you? On a tray or hooks . Daft I know , but some do. Could’ve been checking for that 🤷‍♀️

They knock to find out if anybody is home, that way they know when to come back. It doesn’t take them long they are all geared up for this sort of thing.

He could be on a reconnaissance mission, on the other hand a lot of young east European guys live out of vans while working in this country. No rent or squalid conditions to contend with, and ready wheels to get from one job (employment or otherwise) to another.
