1. Is AL-KO made by Fiat?
2. Is AL-KO better than standard fiat?
3. Do Fiat make any special motorhome chassis themselves?

AL-KO is its own company and they provide chassis for many vehicles
AL-KO is lighter lower and specifically designed for purpose
AL-KO is Galvanised steel so will outlast many other forms if not all rust protection.
Fiat do a flat bed chassis that serves many purposes

Speaking as someone who has owned an Auto trail with Standard Fiat chassis and also a Hymer on a Fiat/Alko chassis
1 noAlko is not made by Fiat
2 IMHO Fiat chassis is very good Alko chassis also very good but lower.
3 yes their Motorhome chassis is a wider track at rear, very stable.

Fiat chassis... leaf spring suspension and a solid beam axle (not independent)
AL-KO chassis... Torsion beam independent suspension

Had both.
Fiat... adequate
AL-KO... better ride quality and less road noise (in my opinion). Also available wide track at the rear (like mine)

Agreed, no sagging springs with Alko axle. My 2400kg axle takes a hell of a lot to even start to shift it.

Fiat do not do a "motorhome" chassis with a wider track, it will be an AL-KO.

Not quite correct their specific Motorhome chassis is wider at rear please don't ask me to prove it do some research.

Yes they do & I've got one (2008).
Alko chassis is very good(until it goes wrong) but very expensive to repair.

As with anything that is not maintained.
The chassis is maintenance free only the axle needs an annual greasing which is a piece of cake but often overlooked. Nothing to worry about for the informed.

OK, public apology to @Speve. Fiat do do a motorhome specific chassis, must be post 2007 models. Hangs head in shame, cracks a can of beer. ;)

@Boringfrog thanks for that I wasn't spoiling for a fight! Still loves you;)(y)(y)(y)

Doesn't matter if you're wrong it's having the grace to admit your wrong that counts and it all ends friendly(y)(y)

Last Hymer had the Fiat camping car chassis, very good handling but harsh ride, current van has an Al-Ko, very good handling much softer ride and no creaky springs
