Ich spreche kein Deutsch (with the help of Google I always though it was ich nich spakenz Deutsch) Despite this major disadvantage I am planning a trip to Germany this summer!
Does anyone one know of a good book or web site that give good directions and information about all the Stellplatz in Germany, please?

Thanks in advance for your help

I use campercontact and also https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/

I like to compare the comments on both sites (both available offline, so no data roaming problems) and there are also some places which one lists but the other doesn't.

Another thumbs up for Camper Contact and Search for Sites. We don’t bother with books anymore.

Bordatlas is also very good. Book and web app. Bit more expensive though.

Just ten minutes ago arrived at our first ever stellplatz with the help of the Bordatlas. It looks a bit grim though! Hope the next one is better.

another plus for campercontact and search for sites , far better with apps over books these days , as usually up to date as apposed to books , along with reviews , all this is accessible due to Data being so cheap these days and roaming included.

Another vote for camper contact and Park 4 Night

We use allsorts but not any books (apart from ACSI) but our main point of reference is the Search for Sites APP
we are off after the Thetford Bash through Netherlands to Mosel (rolling rally there ) then off to Luxembourg and France

Steph is hoping we can do overnight stops on the way on free Stellplatz and longer stays relatively cheaply and if anyone is around we will be at Twin Lakes France end of July and almost all of August

MOST Germans speak English ( Maybe not the older ones ) But be aware that Brexit has peed off a LOT of them ! ! !
They will have to pay more to compensate ! !
Mitch.

We are in Germany at the moment and have to agree that apart from our friends here and people trying to sell us things the rest don’t seem to be very friendly at all. Is Brexit the reason why?

They are fine but they like to charge for their Stellplatz. Even I'm having to pay 5€ for tonight in Pirmasens. Very few free ones. Park4night is your freind.

The place I’m at in Germany at the moment is like a cross between a stellplatz and a campsite. There are toilets and pay showers in the brewery building next door, water is €2 for 100 litres and electricity is €3 a day. It costs €13 a day to park, the “office” (little wooden shed) is open for half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening but the worst thing is they don’t take card payments. Cash only. And for that you get a hand written post-it note to stick on your windscreen. We are here for 6 days seeing friends so have no choice as otherwise you wouldn’t see my bum for dust. I thought Germany was a sophisticated and advanced country?

Throughout
major parts of Germany card transactions are the exception exception (except fuel stations) it is a cash only culture. Reason: the bank or credit card company charges them a commission - same principle in the UK. However they have not clocked that they should just add the charge to the retail price of what they are selling as in the UK. An example today, bought 2 bottles of mid range regional wines so around a €20 transaction and a card was taken reluctantly.
Went back to the shop 10 min later as we thought we would also buy several bottles of Schnapps as presents. We were shown the door unless we had cash this time. The mark up price for the Schnapps would have be circa 40% of profit (about €15 ) for them but with the card transaction of €1.25 they could not see the logic in accepting €13.75 less rather than loose a sale. Of course with a cash society there is an added incentive that profits are potentially not declared for tax. Similar experiences in Austria. We love the Stellplatz’s and €12/13 euros for 24 hour parking near to a city or town is very reasonable. Try parking your car in day central Brighton and it’s about £8 for 2 hours!

We've been travelling around Europe since February (except for a 2 week stint back in Blighty). Only sites we pre-booked were near the ports in the UK. We use CamperContact and Park4Night while we're planning where to go a couple of days in advance. We generally have a backup planned just in case. Turn up on the day with no booking. Only time we needed to use the backup spots was near Benidorm. We've been following the Rhine for the past few weeks through France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg. We arrive in Switzerland tomorrow...

Campercontact for me too!! Used it in Germany last weekend, spot on for a fiver.

Campercontact is good.. BordAtlas not so good..
