Just wondered if anybody could tell me what would be the best Aires books to buy for my first trip to North and South of France please ? .

The most famous books are “All the Aires”. we bought them but never used them. These days we use apps. camper contact is my favourite.

Hello Oldcodger I know it's been a while since I asked about french aires books and know you now use camper contact and have the All the Aires books and wondered if you were interested in selling them to me as I am a bit old fashioned and still like a map ! Many thanks Cliff.

Trouble with paper books is they're out of date and lack up to date reviews. Have you tried Park4night (as above), camper-car park (esp France) campercontact, search for sites, ACSI etc - as you may well find that between them they cover pretty well everywhere?

I’m away for work ATM I’ll look them out a let you know what I’ve got. I think we have France north and south and may be Belgium.

all the apps link to your phones chosen navigation app so you still get a map we found the books clumsy to use as the directions us lat and long so several digits to enter

I have All the Aires books if anyone wants them.
great offer, if the OP doesnt want them, then i would be interested - what year are they please?

to the OP, i think the books are great when planning a trip, moving from one place to another, they are never as up to date as apps, as things change pretty quickly and the aires they publish are 'inspected' every few years = which makes them different from apps which in the main are from recent 'reviews' - we tend to plan using all the aires and then check out the apps either when we get to to our chosen area or the night before, to see what else is around and to try to get a recent 'review' - a lot of places on the apps are also in the books, so using an app helps with those aswell. if i were you, i would take up the kind offer by rod_vw

We use both books and apps and local tourist offices where we just ask for recommendations like this car park overlooking the vineyards in the Jura

I have four sets of the old 2015 edition left on the shelf, there are new pairs of books (France North & France South) plus the fold out map. I can offer these to anyone with a UK post code for £12 including postage.

For those who prefer a physical map there is one that shows locations and lists co-ordinates for free Aires and parking places in France

I have used it together with Campercontact

Amazon product ASIN 2919004417

I don't understand the aversion to apps like p4n and search for sites, you don't need to pay for them the free version work plenty good enough and both connect automatically to your mapping app, if you like looking at maps , that's fine, Julie has always got one open on her knee and keeps a lookout for any diversion we would like to take, that's fine but for finding Aires and putting them into your phone mapping thing, the apps can't be beaten.
