Hi all
Anybody know of and had fitted air assist suspension in Devon/Cornwall.
Thanks

Not in your area but we alaways go to AS Airsuspension near Warrington. They have done 3 motorhomes for me and are highly recommended.

Had it fitted but, not in Devon / Cornwall. I'm sure there'll be someone along soon who can provide the answer you're looking for.
What I will say is, you won't regret having it fitted.

What van is it for? I fitted Easytop to our Ducato last week and it was very straightforward. And I live in Devon!

I think these people might, not used them so not a recommendation.

What I mean is, it’s not a difficult job and even if you can’t do it yourself, literally any decent mechanic could do so in a few hours. If I’d had access to a proper ramp it would have taken me less than 3 hours.

Found local commercial garage who will fit if I supply waiting for quote

Graham at Courtside conversions fitted ours
He’s a VB dealer and a nice guy👍

I don't know of one local to you but we used Dave Newell in Telford. https://davenewell.co.uk

They have done a great job on two vans now for me.

There is a decent campsite near his place and Jackie (his wife) dropped us off and collected us from one of the Iron Bridge attractions.

All in all a very pleasant experience. (y)

Had mine fitted at Solar Solutions in Dorset .

If you have a day when you are not rushed, have fully prepared and planned your actions and kit beforehand then it is an easy job to fit rear, air assist suspension. I am not a spanner wielder but got it done easily including fitting a compressor in a day.
I got my Dunlop kit from Marcle Leisure. I know it was slightly more expensive but I considered that if I had a problem then they are on the end of a phone for advice and ordering spares.

As others have said you won't regret having it fitted. Mine went on a 2012 Auto-Trail Delaware, Fiat chassis.

Stay safe.
Regards
Nik.

Have been thinking of fitting “as” to my Hymer. Tell me why this is better to have these fitted . Does improve the ride handling etc etc

Any point in fitting one to a mk8 transit, leaf rear suspension? 6 mtr van?

Both my vans have had the standard Fiat leaf springs.

The Autotrail at 7mtrs was a horrid thing to drive in strong winds and when you were overtaken on the motorways etc.
The extra air assist smoothed out the ride and practically halted the sway we used to get. That it made it a much more pleasant vehicle to drive would be an under statement. On a windy day I always thought I was going to the scene of an accident.

The 6.3mtr Fiat chassis IH we have now does not seem to be massively improved but it does let me up-rate the rear axle.

Just to add...The plan is to add air assist suspension so I can uprate rear axle to 2250 kg as advised by SV tech.
Their calculations are based on air assist only.
Has anyone changed the leaf springs to heavy duty and changed the v/n plate themselves?

The advantage I went for was the air compressor in the cab that allows the rear to be raised for any ramps to give more clearance on a 7.4m . It does stop body roll on roundabouts and as said wind movement .

Hi were they expensive?
It's now four years since they fitted my current moho so I can't recall the prices offhand. they are certainly comparable with similar systems.

Their workmanship and service are both excellent. If you give Cathy or Phil a call they will give you all the gen.

I went with the EasyTop system as my van is 10 years old and I didn't want the headache of taking a few bolts out of the suspension. Very happy with it (was about £350 I think).

I know loads that have the Dunlop system. Again they are all very happy with it.

The guy I'm fitting a few vans out for at the moment has the VB Air system. Again it's really nice and surprisingly good value considering the brand IMO. He has the full system with the front control panel which is the nicest I've seen.

I also know a few that have fitted the Timpro system. £315 including compressor and nice control panel. Again, they are happy.

Seems they are all pretty good systems and it comes down to personal choice :)

I fitted ours as our rear end had drooped a little with age (I know how the van feels :roflmto: ) and we wanted to fit a moped rack. The van is now level again and the ride is so much better. Wish I'd fitted it years ago (y)
