Is it normal for my two AGM leisure batteries to get warm when plugged into mains overnight with the heating on, they are new Varta 105 APH batteries and are just getting warm not hot.

How much hotter were they than the surrounding temperature?
Nothing surprises me with AGM's, had them once never again.

They are not hot to touch but they are warm enough to feel through the plastic battery box cover.

With just the heating running I wouldn't expect them to get warm.
Are you on EHU and if so what charger and settings?

See picture I have Ste the panel to cover the two 105 APH batteries is this correct.
I am on EHU

Out of curiosity, when you had AGMs did your EBL have an AGM specific charging profile?
No, the batteries were Banner Type 2 AGM which charge at a lower voltage of 14.4v compared to type 1 which charge at 14.7v.
I spoke to both Banner and Schaudt both said they would be fine on the Gel setting, lying bar*steds.

This is the reading with everything turned off and on EHU

You need to let them charge fully, they should get up to 14.7v, then the charger will hold them at 14.7 for the absorption phase which maybe a few hours then drop to a float charge of around 13.6v.

We picked up our Hymer Exsis in September 2019, which came with the EBL 30 (AGM setting enabled) and Banner Running Bull AGM onboard, hence my interest. I guess we’ll have to watch & wait to see when they start crapping out. ;)

Evening all, It turned out that one of the batteries was faulty and I got it exchanged with no problems.
Everything is work fine now and the batteries are staying cool
