Nice to see he has sorted out his bum perch..Those CRF saddles cut you in half after a couple of hours !

I did this in 2010 with a few friends, probably the best trip of my life, (cos it’s not over yet) without doubt a real adventure. We had to work our way through various problems but the sheer joy of doing something a bit different was definitely worth it. Advise your son not to travel after dark, I hope he is taking a location device, and lastly be sure to spend a day or three at the Zebra bar in Senegal.

Good for him.I had a cousin who at 65 cycled from Cairo to Cape Town,,daft bugger but was very proud of him.BUSBY?

Good on him, happy travels to him. (y)

Now that's a trip.. good luck .

I did a similar two month solo camping trip on my 65 year old British Matchless as a 65th birthday treat. Only went as far as Casablanca though.
En route I figured Condom should provide safe camping....

but feral cats shredded my tent very badly whilst I was away....

Camped every night except two when I was taken in and entertained by two spinster sisters as thanks for changing their punctured wheel in very scary freezing fog in the Pyrenees....

These things must be done.
Hope he has a great trip.

It’s not his first trip he as been to the Senegal- across India biked in South America the T.e.t. last year started with a mate who backed out when they got to Med .Now this trip starts ferry tonight ,

It's all about the challenges, the adventure, the unexpected and the opportunity to be self-reliant and independent of today's unavoidably cushioned, pre-packaged, Health and Safety regulated and organised environment. Same when I travel in the m/h. A masochist probably.
I just cannot sit on a beach or by a pool and planning ahead would spoil it (other than booking the ferry out).

I can only say, as do the majority of Motorhome Funsters.

Do it now and enjoy it whilst you can, tomorrow may be to late and of coarse it goes without saying

Enjoy and Good Luck ;)
