Adria Van M 2008
Hi, newbie here, I'll introduce myself in the intro section later. We inherited my sisters motorhome a year ago. It was 300 miles away in Scotland so it was stored outside at a garage through lockdown. We eventually managed to get it transported down and onto our drive late summer, but with lockdown and shielding we have never been out in it yet. It has had its MOT and we are preparing to get it up and running. Managed to get it plugged in to charge, mainly to start it, however over the next few days we got the awful gas smell. Researching, it is not gas, I realise it must be the leisure battery being duff as it's lay flat for so long.

I am at a loss where it is? I've removed upholstery and carpets and found all the cubby holes but can't see it. We are going to get a mobile service for all the equipment and some tuition how it all works, but in the meantime I just wanted to get the smell out. Thank you.

Thanks, yes nothing obvious but underneath the drivers seat is a small bulkhead panel with 4 bolts but I thought a battery access point would be bigger. I know it will stare me in the face  I can wait until I arrange the service but the smell is still lingering after a few days with windows open.

It would help considerably if you gave the base vehicle vehicle make and year,
I have a Adria on a Renault Master chassis and has been said it’s between the front seats under the floor, another type has it located under the Near side step as you step up to the cab,

Thank you all. I've found it, however, someone has hacked at one of the bolts . Looks like they have hacksawed a slot to get a screwdriver at it, never removed it and bent the panel. You still can't swivel it out of the way anyway. I don't think the battery has ever been looked at then.
