Additional USB sockets

Bought a couple of these but they are too deep to fit where I originally wanted, anyway found another spot where I can take a feed from the lighting circuit which seems to have some meaty wire to it. Just asking if people think its OK to wire onto the lights (we never use the light in question), I can't find the fuse for the lights so not sure what amp it is. Van is Dethleffs Esprit 2018/19 model with EBL 102.

i took one of mine from a lighting circuit ive not blown any fuses in five years as you say wiring looks pretty heavy for lights plus ive changed ours from spots to led

Some European vans the brown is negative and the blue is positive as I got caught out with our last van a Globecar after I fitted the usbs kept blowing fuses when I tried to use them.

Check the polarity with a multi meter before connecting. They are not always obvious.

The USB sockets will draw less than half their rated output as they work from 12v about 1.75 amps if both outputs running at full power.

Unless the switch is actually part of the light the light switch will need to be on when using the usb socket.

No cos there's a live feed in and out that is switched on, so should have a live on the incoming feed but will check in the morning thanks.
