So off we go Friday afternoon heading up the A11 to Norfolk coast when...alternator light comes on. Its 5:30pm so no chance of making it in time to the nearest Euro parts for another. Belt is still on, so it must just be the regulator pack. One of those plug in USB chargers that shows voltage confirmed it.
Decided to carry on driving.
Figuring out that all I need the alternator for is ECU, indicators and brake lights, I re-configured the solar controller to just charge the front (engine) battery. Success, I just managed to complete the return journey of 120 miles no problem, with solar panel keeping main battery topped up (above 12.7v ) all the way home.
