enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Added a shelf above the sink using the headrest fixings. It should come in useful when using the kitchen area ..??

It's removable and you even even alter height from side to side if on an unlevel pitch ...

I just need to add some edging strip, but we need to try it first in case the corners need rounding off.
I was tempted to make the shelf wider but thought it might stop the seats being used when eating. I could always make it wider if we want to at a later date.

The shelf is removable if the seats are being used for travelling.

Total cost - under £25 !!

Are you going to round off the corners look a but sharp

Looks excellent. I have something like this in mind, but number one son is 6'4" and would bang his head on it. I either have to have it higher, situated more towards the sink/hob, or make it removable.

But you've given me ideas. Thanks v m.

You could buy longer legs and lift the headrests to suit ;)

The 'legs' I used were 10mm studs and are 300mm long - so you could easily have the shelf sitting higher than the headrests if you wanted to. If there was an issue with stability at a higher level, you could use four studs instead of two. It is also removable, no holes or screws etc were drilled or made, which means it can easily be returned back to its original condition.

I did mention that in my original post. We want to live with it at first, to work out just how far back to radius the corners. I think it's about 2 inches too long, but am loath to cut it (and round the corners off) until we've tried using it. It would be a bugger if it was 2 inches too short after I had cut it down!

I also have enough 'bits' left over to redesign the additional TV shelf in the lounge area that I made previously. Having used it we now think it would be function better if it was designed differently. I might have a go at that on Sunday ....
