Adding a 110ah gel battery to an 80 ah gel.

Since 2017. Before had caravan, folding camper and various tents.
I'm pretty sure all of the advice I've seen has suggested that an additional battery should be the same as the original.
 
Absolutely right. Both batteries should ideally be the same age too. If you’re looking for extra power, It would be best to add two new matching batteries.

For best performance, yes. Age and rating should be the same.

Technically, it's possible to mix and match but I understood the issue to be that the stack of batteries will start to work in tune with oldest, weakest one in the stack.

I'm having various upgrades at the moment and the installer has added a 110ah gel to my 80ah which is a few months old.

Should be fine I would think?

Same type similar age etc.

Subscribers  do not see these advertisements

I wouldn't worry about it ,both are the same type of battery ,just run with them. (y)
