Hi everyone, any advice before I drive 3+ hrs to view a Ford Duetto 1998 at a dealership. Ive heard the undercarriage is suseptable to rust...

I would get the reg number and put it in the gov mot history website and look for any previous advisory’s on rust.

These are the advisories...does anyone know if it’s going to be a fortune or common maintenance issues

No things like this need doing from time to time same brake pads and shoes. Everything wears out or needs replacing over time. As far as covered in underseal goes it’s not an mot failure as far as I know.

It all depends on price and if it’s a dealer, then these should be sorted, pre-sale.

Most dealers are absolute villains in my experience, so be tough, polite and firm. They’ll be asking way over what you’d pay for a private sale, but need too because of the overheads.

Also, 3+ hours back if it needs work under any form of warranty and most won’t do it while you wait.

Good luck and keep us posted.

No it isn’t, but hides a variety of sins.

Remember buying my first Mk1 Granada, drove it around until the MOT expired, then on test, beneath all the under seal, was a long strip of masking tape that hid the corrosion along the entire length of the chassis. Loved that car, wish I still had it.
