Hi, do we have to pay the congestion charge if going to Abbey Wood in a plated 3650kg euro 6 vehicle.

No congestion charge but LEZ and soon to be ULEZ rules apply. You can go to the government website and enter your Reg number to see if you are compliant. I did this recently and we comply with the new rules.

I wonder how this will effect their business, in effect they will be limited to under 3.5 tonne motorhomes and new over 3.5 tonne motorhomes, I can't see many others paying £200 to visit and £200 to leave.

The expanded ULEZ will come into effect in October 2021. As others have said the Abbey Wood site is just outside the zone, which ends at the South Circular road. Our 4500kg 2015 Hymer qualifies for the ULEZ even though it has the 3litre engine, according to Tfl.

There appears to be some confusion which zones (CCZ, ULEZ or LEZ) the site is in this information was copied fron the TFL locator website.

Postcode and map search

Enter a postcode to see if it's inside one or more of the charging zones. Results will not be displayed on the map.
Please go to post code checker at the bottom of the page
The address you specified is: Abbey Wood Caravan & Motorhome Club Site, Federation Road, London, SE2 0LS. Find another address
Outside the Congestion Charge zone
Outside the ULEZ charge zone
Inside the LEZ charge zone

So vehicles heading to Abbey Wood must comply with the LEZ only.

Our Ixeo is plated at 4.8 tons and is ULEZ compliant. We love going to the London sites for theatres etc. Not at the moment of course but when things pick up it’s a great place.

Be aware that if your motorhome is pre euro 4 and over 3.5 tonne, the cost is now £300 a day for the LEZ, and a day is 00:00 - 24:00 so stray into it at 23:55 and leave at 00:05 and that will be £600 thank you very much. Also for any motorhomes over 3.5 tonne, the LEZ is the same standard as the ULEZ so must be Euro 6 or pay the charge. I'm glad I no longer live within the LEZ.

That's a good point, it's £200 per 24 hours. if like us you use AW to go and see a show in the west end, you might as well leave the MH at home, take public transport and stay in a 4/5 star hotel

If you have a blue badge you can register up to two vehicles & no charges apply in the zones. At least that was the case two years ago.
