In the vast parking area west of Toledo where there are fairgrounds in the summer evidently - it’s a P4N spot, no services but the only place we are allowed by the police in Toledo unless you want a fine!

Walk then bus into city centre tomorrow!
In the morning a load of Lorries and men turned up! Then 2 police officers. who came to each van and asked us nicely to move as we were on the “festival” site and the men had come to build it!

Isn’t it weird - some Leclercs have height barriers, this one provides shade and dry cover when you come shopping and this one also has about 8 Motorhome spaces and services!

We are now at Soria

Some are smart enough to consider us 🙂
Or not🤔
How did you find Soria, against other cities?
For us it was nice, but it's not our favourite. Toledo is brilliant.
Just an opinion.

We did not explore Soria just Leclerc and the huge sports shop next door and stopped the night on the aire. Heading for Burgos - M hunting for something for the Grandchildren to take back for them!

Burgos evidently has the sweet shop that M wants to get to for sweets for the grandkids so we drove there yesterday and parked in the big Aire 3.5kms out from the centre. We got the sweets and went into the centre, had a walk around, saw the cathedral and a wedding and walked back again. We had previously visited in 2019.

So late afternoon I decided to move again so we are now at Laredo just east of Santander which is a fishing town and beach resort with some nice restaurants and things to amuse us today (Sunday) and tomorrow morning before we catch the ferry back tomorrow evening.

What’s nice about Spain?

It’s the little things that count - everyone coming in to a little bar or cafe acknowledges everyone.

The pedestrian crossings have a cheeping bird sound instead of an ugly beep. There are often displays of how long you will have to wait or have left to cross. Going into villages a traffic light goes to red if you are going too fast! Everyone stops for pedestrian crossings and everyone takes their time.

The food and drink are great.

The roads are usually good quality and great progress can be made as there is little traffic apart from a few hotspots.

Overall you've had a good trip.

It's good to see that you spent time visiting totally different parts of Spain, and sampled the local fare.

Too many people go from A (ferry) to B (if not Beni, somewhere similar) and vice versa on their way home. There's so much more to see.

Thanks for doing this thread.

Spain is very lucky with its long and varied history with lots of buildings, fortifications, aqueducts and similar to see. Some of the carved choir stalls, masonry and stained glass are beautiful to behold.

Much of that in our country was bombed flat in WWII!

I only wish A) I could speak the language, and
B) M was more adventurous about her food

But we get by!

Maybe someone who lives in Spain can explain the weather. We have experienced a cold breeze most of the holiday sometimes offset by the heat of the sun in the south. Cold mornings, worsened by the breeze until the sun is strong enough to take the edge off.

Up here in Laredo the weather is positively balmy, even in the mornings. It’s strange but outside temperatures have been as low as 5c in the mornings in the south and middle of Spain but now much more even throughout the day.

Is this the cold wind from the Sahara doing this?

I couldn't agree more, Spain is great especially inland. Although the beaches are pretty magnificent too!

You didn't try to cross Madrid on may day.

I don’t think anyone knew the drain was there as covered in grass etc - remnant from before it became a campsite!
