Just wondering if anyone has used this facility for there motorhome. We have a bank account that provides UK based road side assistance but it is limited to under 3.5t and 2.3m width. Now I phoned them to say the mh was plated upto 3.85t, but if it weighed less would they offer that service. The girl replied that the service agent would know the weight and if over 3.50t they would not provide any help. She couldnt tell me how the serviceman would know, but I'm wondering if anyone has an experience of being refused AA road side recovery because of weight.

Lifting the bonnet and looking at the axle weights plate or the converters plate would be an easy way for the AA serviceman to find out.
If it was plated at 3.85 then I don’t think the recovery guy would take it. Don’t forget these limits are there for a reason and if I was him I wouldn’t go overloaded either. It his responsibility at the end of the day

I believe they always ask for your registration number and suspect their computer system checks the registered weight before anyone attends. I think everything hinges on the registered weight, not what it actually weighs, the same as the driving license you need and the road tax charged.

I think you may be with the wrong bank!
It's early days yet and we haven't put it to the test, but we have recently changed our bank to Nationwide Flex Plus account. One of our reasons for changing is the fact they include breakdown recovery for larger motorhomes along with other benefits for £13 per month account fee.
Another benefit is that if I, or any other N/wide customer, recommends you then you both share £200 .. I'm happy to help if it suits you.(y)

I will await your review on fun to see how you get on. Will use Fiat Assist for another year and will enquire how much an extension for a year costs. If I remember you after that time, well and good.

Yes Nationwide account does cover Motorhomes over 3.5t and I think unto 8.5m long. So more the monthly fee of £13 for UK and overseas cover its very good value. I don't want a share of the £200!! I think it's 'snap' on the van!

Snap it is then on the Frankia. We have just had it three months and have been delighted with it so far. Heading down to SMC this month for for the Hab check.
