eight years in theory, a newby in practice!!!
Over 100mm of rain has fallen yesterday on the A83 Rest and be Thankful causing landslips which have closed the road yet again.
The diversion is almost 60 miles long. Approximately 1500 tonnes of debris is thought to have reached the A83, with around 2000 tonnes of material washed onto the Old Military Road which in the past has saved vehicles from the lengthy diversion. It is the second time this year that the road has been closed due to landslips.

We know sitting here parked up by loch Loman at Tarbet. It says will be open tomorrow. Looking at the pics can’t see that but live in hope
Are you heading anywhere in particular? Missed getting home this year.

Decided now will head onto Glencoe Mountain range tomorrow for the night then drift down to Oban by Monday. Have a ferry booked to Mull for Monday to eventually to get to Fort William for a few days. Then down to Campletown over to Arren and then back South at the end of August. Came up here to get away from the packed beaches in the South. A bit of total isolation. Will not head to high up, from what I'm reading its manic up past Fort William and it seems people are not happy with the tourist activity.

A man after my own heart, sounds like a great trip.
If you manage to get to Inverary try a visit to Inverary Jail if it's open then you can make your way up the A819 to the top of Loch Awe then turn right for Tyndrum before heading up to Glencoe on the A82 (my favourite place on the planet!) I've never been down the Mull of Kintyre to Campbeltown or to Arran but it's on my list as it's the only part of Scotland I've never been (except Orkney and Shetland)
Have a great trip, wish I was there! (y) I'm off to the Cotswolds and Somerset on Friday

We went over there at about 4.00 yesterday. I think we got lucky but it was getting dangerous. There we so many flooded sections. We were glad when we stopped at Loch Lomond junction.

That was the route we were planning on before the landslide. Will now hopefully drop in that way on the way down from William on route to Campletown week after next
