Now that Brittany ferries have released their winter timetable it’s put me in right dilemma , do I book the ferry to Caen on Boxing Day ,will I be alright to travel to Portugal after disembarking ,will the campsites be open or closed due to COVID ,will I get a refund if COVID shuts every where down ? . Many questions I know ,what would you do ?. I used to be indecisive but I am not so sure now 😁. Having had a bad experience last March when every where shut down and really don’t want to go through that again but really want to get away for winter . What’s your thoughts guys(and girls) .

You won't know till you try it.

If all is well you'll kick yourself if you don't book. Or why not wait and book nearer the time - if price will allow.?

We have booked the ferry on the 29th dec to Spain with no idea where we shall go.
yes we where caught up in spain in the lockdown and had to make the trek up to Calais to get home but we shall just risk it.
😎😎😎

Now that is understandably a tough one, you might as well spin a coin, as not many have crystal balls that are reliable anymore, everything is up in the air, and we havent had the winter R value increases yet, although looking France yesterday, they have over 500 hot spots for Covid:eek:
Anyhow, Best of luck & Happy travels if you do manage to get away.(y)

It’s really difficult to know what to do for the best. We live in Spain and keep thinking about heading up into the Pyrenees and we love to spend August in France to escape the heat in Murcia but we keep talking ourselves out of it. The figures in Spain are increasing rapidly day on day and each regional government keeps adding different lockdown measures but I do think we’re headed for a full lockdown again though the government will try and get us through the tourist season first in order to try to boost the economy as much as possible. Saw this yesterday which is perhaps an insight? But as you say it’s a right dilemma!

As Dirty Harry said: "Do you feel lucky, punk?"

The current headlines aren't great, and this is despite Summer supposedly being safer than Winter.

What does your Travel Insurance say? If you book will you get your money back in the event of things getting worse? Is that important to you?
Can you wait to see what happens in the late Autumn? Prices may be higher but availability should be OK I think.

Do you feel lucky? Gordon

We're going to wait until much later in the year before making any decisions, but as we use the Tunnel don't have to worry about making early ferry bookings, which is the OP's dilemma of course. Agree, ask your travel insurance company although I would almost bet I know the answer you'll get - errmm, we don't know!

Someone has told me that there is going to be a heatwave in Garstang from this Christmas till Easter next year Howard.

Get yourself booked into Six Arches for the duration.. I believe they have San Miguel and Alhambra on tap. Flamenco classes every Friday and Paella every other Wednesday. :roflmto: :roflmto: :roflmto:

Enjoy yourself Howard whatever you do(y)(y).
