Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I have a few questions:

What would be a good recommendation for a can for around £5000?

How feasible is it to convert a microvan e.g. Vauxhall Combo or similar to a 2-berth camper?

How easy is it to adapt a van with sliding doors on both sides so only one side is functional?

Welcome! :)

Anything is possible but there may be compromises. :) An older van is likely to be unreliable and/or suffer from rust. If you can live with that go for it.

As to whether a specific van is suitable is down to what can be fitted in the space. If there is a cargo area you can lie down in then it will be easy. If not you need to be more creative and use the front seats. It can be done. 😀

Thanks friend.

Yeah I know there would likely be issues with a cheaper van, cosmetic issues aren't so much an issue and I would be expecting to pay out for things like brakes eventually.

I found a nice Vauxhall Combo, it's load length is 1800mm, which is a full me. But I figure if I remove the bulkhead completely, and move the seats forward before bed I could get myself in there.

Of course the other option would be to turn it in to more of a mobile beach hut and get a trailer tent. It's early days yet.
