On my quote from Comfort the windscreen insurance is a maximum of £3000 in any one claim.
Calling on the collective wisdom of members to advise that this is enough.
Thankyou
Graham

I think it's only that amount if your don't use their recommended people. A point that's been raised a few times on here. 👍
Recheck the wording to save me looking it up. 🤣

Comfort is unlimited if you use Autoglass £3k only applies if you use someone else.
A couple of years ago our screen alone was around £2050 +vat Autoglass guy had a copy of the invoice from TW with him.

Ask the dealer. They should be able yo tell you.

We made the mistake going with Motorhome Protect. As it was our first A Class I specifically asked when getting a quote, as I am aware these A Class windscreens are expensive am I fully covered the reply was yes except for your excess. The quote was emailed to me and sure enough where it said windscreen cover these is a tick but no mention of any limit. So I paid my premium and just printed out the cover note. 11 months later small stone chipped the windscreen before I could stop their was a vertical crack 100 mm long. Phoned them they put me through to Auto Windscreen they said they would pass it to Autoglaze their specialist motorhome dept. Got a phone call to pay my excess to be told it was £2476 pounds. I said I am fully covered what is the charge. The reply was yes you are fully covered up to our limit (remember this is a specialist motorhome insurance provider) but only up to our own limit of £500. When I complained oh! There is a mistake on the form it is up to £100 so £1976 out of pocket. Needless to say I did not renew with them.

I wrote to the Ombudsman but have not had any repl, when we return from France I will be chasing it up. Bloody rip off

This thread reminds me of a point that I raised elsewhere but never got an answer.

If a policy states a limit for replacement but not if one uses a named fitter, e.g. Autoglass, what happens if the damage happens in a country where the named fitter does not operate?

If i had a crack in the screen and not covered i would wait till renewal and change companies so it was covered also a cracked screen is not a mot fail if not in line of site. Bill

I don't know about other companies but Comfort say they have different authorised fitters in different countries. Obviously a massive grey area.....................

Autoglass is CarGlass in most other countries. Also many on here have been told that A class screens won't get replaced in certain countries & you have to wait until home. Spain being one of them but how that works when it is illegal to drive here with a cracked windscreen I've no idea?

Just had my A class windsceen replaced under an insurance claim. The repairer said the windscreen was £2k. By the way our insurance is with AIB who give unlimited windscreen cover. Hope this helps?

If it can't be driven then I'd suggest it qualifies as a breakdown which is why I get my insurance and breakdown cover from the same company

I think it depends on the underwriter not the broker.

Sorry to piggyback on this thread.

I was thinking about windscreen replacement recently and was wondering what the situation would be on our Mirage 5000 (2004 model) should anything happen to the glass.

Does anyone know if the screens used on this were of a standard type that are still manuifactured?

Anyone?

You need to very carefully read the policy.
I got caught out with my American RV.
Can't remember the insurer but the quote said unlimited windscreen cover.
It was only when I studied the actual policy I realised "unlimited" was for the number of claims, not the financial cover which was nowhere near enough..
I got a full refund as they mis-sold it.

This is whaat the product information document states.

Looks OK to me.

Doesn't say what happens if there isn't a replacement available though!

Will check windscreen markings this week.

An excess of £75 will apply to glass replacement claims – and we may not use glass supplied by the original manufacturer.
Cover for this section is unlimited provided the windscreen is replaced by Autoglass. A maximum limit of £3,000 in any one
glass claim applies to all other windscreen replacement providers
