Why is it so difficult to get any response out of so many tradespeople?
At the moment I have a modest repair job needed on my cassette toilet. Not a difficult one and many Funsters would tackle it themselves. However, I know my own limitations.
Now, firstly I should say that I have had exemplary service from some people. Notably, DMS, here in Nuneaton and Rhino Installs up in Lancashire. But DMS don't do Thetford and it's a long way for a small job to Rhino.
So far I have tried phoning, messaging and emailing three local, alleged, moho/ caravan services, all with the same result. A combination of either calls going to voicemail or complete failure to reply to a simple enquiry.
Even if I accept that these people are in high demand, surely a brief acknowledgement should not be too much to ask?
I am not tarring all service providers with the same brush. Testimonials on Fun are clear evidence of the excellence of several member/traders but none of them are local to me. I can live without this repair but it is clear that I will definitely be looking further afield should I ever require any more major work.
A little common courtesy should not be too much to expect.

I agree with you, I hate it when you phone or email for some advice etc and get nothing. It’s bad manners not the group they were ok in there day.. I am old school and treat peaple like I would want to be treated. Recently my bike gears were playing up, I found a local to me at the time emailed him, he replied the same day and booked me in the next day. Just a one man band, fixed my bike I tested it the next day over 18 miles of mountain biking, all good so I emailed him back and told him how pleased I was and he was so grateful that I did that.(y)

If only there were a few more like him.

Do they actually want the business. two weeks ago i contacted a well known accessory dealer and left a voice mail stating i was interested in purchasing a kampa Air awning but i had couple of question could some phone me back. the Cost of this awning was £1300 and i am still waiting for the phone call... i have since been a purchased from another supplier

If it's the cassette its probably going to be cheaper to buy a new one otherwise as Lenny hb said

top of ours broke ordered a new one, took ages to arrive so ordered another, now have a spare, was easy to do although John had to use brute force to get the old one off, gave the cassette a good clean and used silicone spray before putting the new one in.

What's the problem Tony?
I'm sure we could talk you through it, they are fairly straight forward to replace most parts.
Hi Lenny HB , it's the under cassette extractor fan. we spoke about it a while back. I have seen YouTube tutorials etc but, to be brutally honest, I just don't feel up to it! The fridge fan was my peak triumph...with your advice!
Not a major job on the bog fan but plenty of potential to drop myself in it.
Just surprised that I've had no response from three local businesses.
Equally surprising that DMS don't 'do' Thetford.

You could try putting a request on your local Facebook page, it seems to work around here? :giggle:

If it's the fan (hopefully not the electronics switching it ) it will be a doddle to change its a computer processor fan it has got long leads on it but easy enough to cut & join.

I do sometimes fail to understand how some businesses remain viable. Twice on the last two weeks I have telephoned two separate traders to receive a stark telephone message saying "sorry we can't take your call right now and you cannot leave a message. Please call back later." Seemingly they can't even be bothered to listen to messages and customers are nought but irritants.

Neither of these excuses for businesses received my orders.

One of the tutorials I found suggested it might be the circuit board. I 'm not really sure how to get at the fan under the compartment base, if it is that.
