Burstner Lyseo TD590
Exp
Long time caravanner - almost 2 years a motorhomer
Swapped our Autotrail Tracker yesterday for a nearly new Burstner Lyseo TD590. In just about every respect the Lyseo feels much more ergonomic. However, the end washroom basin is tucked almost completely under a wall mounted storage cabinet making it ridiculously awkward to use. It’s not something anyone raised in the dozen or so reviews or walk-throughs we’ve seen nor something we envisaged from viewing it ourselves or even during the handover process. It was as I went to use it for the first time once pitched last night I realised I’d need to get my head into the gap beneath the cabinet to brush my teeth or get water and gob all over the floor. Yuck.
Tell me it’s not just me.

I see what you mean, very bad design and with the way that the tap is placed too it looks like a real afterthought.

If it was mine I'd be looking to move the sink out a couple of inches as there appears to be plenty of room to do so and make a filler piece/shelf for the back. It would likely require a new tap too with a longer spout.

Yup, I have seen a few with that type of design flaw including my current one. It's like they don't even try to use the 1st one off the production line for real world tests. OR have anyone on the team who has actually used a motorhome. Makes me mad :(

In most respects, yes. The washroom sink? 😂😂

Using that tap you’re going to get water all over the place, down the side of the toilet area etc.

I like a big sink to get a proper wash in.

We have the same arrangement on our A Class Burstner. The daft thing is, the mirror above is not a cupboard and if they had set the mirror back ( not to align with the adjacent wall cupboard), it would solve the problem.

As for the tap, we have never had a problem with it.

Does that wall with the dressing gowns on fold back?. If so a bigger or moved sink could easily stop it moving fully

If fancy moving the sink out a few inches, you could move the tap into that space too ?

Our Geist i585 is pretty much the same layout as it's a 6m van with a rear washroom. Ours has a small window and a large mirror above our sink and a smaller cabinet to the side.

View when standing in the shower, so back of the van is to the right:

Then he'd have a big hole where the tap is and would have to think of something to stick in it ... fitting one with a longer spout would be easier.

Use less toothpaste, keep your gob closed as much as possible and stand upwhilst brushing then spit out into the toilet, that's what we do and it saves having to clear the plughole of all the gunk.

Swallow the toothpaste. Much cheaper than than all that DIY malarkey.

Can you take out that cupboard and replace it with a large mirror?

I’ve done it ever since I was at Uni and one of my Profs recommended it for the Fluoride. They were also very anti nitrites in food, ahead of the game really.
I have to disagree there on swallowing toothpaste, I have always been of the opinion it’s bad for you to do it regularly due to the ingredients.
I agree on the nitrites in food being bad though.

those taps with the waterfall are a nightmare to keep clean unless you have a water softner

Same as dark coloured bathroom suites and kitchen sinks which seem to be making a comeback, black sinks and taps in a kitchen seem to be all the range at the moment which will be a nightmare to keep clean in hard water areas.

Our sink isn’t much better in the Bailey Autograph.Think they are designed for hand wash only 🙄

Likewise with ours, although even hand washing has it niggles. . Both the OP's Lyseo and many others all seem to have a tap outside of the handbasin.
So how many of us wash our hands under a sparing supply of running water and then turn the tap off to save water? Now the wet hands drip water and some soap residue all around the tap and this needs to be cleaned up before it seeps into the woodwork or leaves water/soap/toothpaste stains. (especially on our black/grey surface. )
Why can't these numpties put the tap inside the basin surround for heavens sake! No doubt it's a cost / supply thing to make it easier to fit or replace.
I prefer Guigsy's Geist with the handbasin in front of a window - somewhere to stick the shaving mirror at a good distance ahead to focus on the face. We had a Cadiz3 arranged like that until they bu##ered it up on the Cadiz4 and put it like the OP's layout.
We just have to remember that pobody'd nerfect. :giggle:

Hi, we have a Burstner Nexxo Sovereign. It had the same problem not enough room above the sink to make it easy to use.
I took the cupboard off and shortened it, and the mirrored glass and replaced it.
We now have a useable sink and still have enough stowage in the reduced cupboard.
It took most of a weekend but well worth it.
Pic 1 Wash area before modification, showing how low the bottom shelf is to the sink
Pic 2 Cupboard stripped out, on the floor leaning on the loo.
Pic 3 Cupboard back in place but now well above the sink area.
Pic 4 Finished job leaving lots of room above the sink, a far more usable space.

What a lovely job. Looks great and much more practical. Wish I had decent DIY skills but I’m afraid if I tackled something like that I’d ruin it.
