Just thought I would share our pain.
it looks like our 5 months of planned (& booked) UK touring due to start on April 20th is in doubt! Looks like our motorhome isn’t going to be delivered in time despite ordering back in December and being promised it would be ready middle of March.
Frustrated, gutted and not quite sure what to do next!

I feel for you. A lot of the time the Dealer/manufacturer know on placing the order that a given delivery date is unlikely. They want the sale.
With this 19 they have the best excuse in the world.
If it's on the forecourt ready to go i could be interested.

Do you know how long the delay is ? Weeks or months. I do feel for you though.
Bumps come along in the road of life and I would just move the beginning of your trip to the end. Factor in a week at home on the drive with it or nearby the dealer just to use everything as most new MHs a a few things to get sorted.

We have factored in a local shakedown trip upon delivery for a few nights. Unfortunately extending at the end isn’t possible due to my wife taking unpaid leave for the trip! 😞

Me being me.... (Impatient sod..) I would say to the dealer this is messing up all our plans..

And we may decide to cancel order and ask for our deposit back...

Then see what happens........... If they say fair enough.... have a look at other similar M-homes and dealers..

I feel your pain. Remember that most often this is not the dealers fault. However If it is a main dealer ask them to loan you a motorhome in the interim. Ask nicely, and if you were going to take your old mum on her last trip to where she married your late father, make sure you tell them.

Worth asking the dealer for a solution.

Our motorhome was the dealers demo vehicle, it spent a summer going from trade show to trade show
It was then used by a couple with a late delivery issue, for a trip to Scotland.

We were looking to buy that particular model, the dealer rented it to us for a week, we liked it, as it was basically still almost brand new but with 5,500 miles on the clock (and all the teething troubles dealt with), so we bought it.

Hello,

Ordered an Adria last October, delivery was supposed to be 14th April, then slipped to July and last week I was told now August.
I asked Adrai UK to explain the delays, they said Covid was somewhat to blame, certain parts and components not available.
They also said Adria had employed 300 new staff to ramp up production.

The motorhome makers have no base vehicles to work with. Unfortunately, even that August date might roll back.

The dealer will probably rub their hands give them their deposit back and then hike the price of the van by 20% when it arrives 😈

Back in November 2017 when we ordered our V Line we had to wait until June ( 18 ) for delivery, we were told on order that the van was a May build, but at least our dealer, West Country Motorhome let us continue using our part exchange and honoured the offered price when the swop took place.

I would be going “ nuts “ if the devilry date kept being pushed back, but I suppose with the lack of vans coming from PSA there is little the dealers or manufacturers can do about it.

That’s really good to know as we are purchasing from West Country Motorhomes in case we need a contingency for a longer delay.

Could you not get your deposit back and buy something off the forecourt?

Good news(ish)!
Contacted Bailey direct and they very helpfully informed me exactly where they were with our vehicle. Got more detail than the dealer was able to obtain!
Long story short (and dealer has now confirmed) we will take delivery on 27/4. A bit late and needs some plan rearrangements but at least the trip is on!!

Oh I feel for you - I teach so no leeway with holidays. Our van was meant to be delivered in June but wasn’t in the country until December - so we missed our first year. Fingers crossed it arrives soon

"devilry date" You meant to do that, didn't you. :groan:

We have bought off the rack as it were the only 2 motorhomes we have owned. Puts us off buying bespoke in the future. 🙂
