5 days in France, suggestions please?

Squeezed in a quick Le Shuttle 5 dayer beginning of March. We generally pass through or around France so not too familiar with places. We are going to head to Rouen but are looking at places in the area between Rouen and Calais. Have done Le Crotoy previously so looking for something different. Any suggestions, gratefully received, thanks in advance.

Thanks for all of the tips. We are off in 3 weeks, taking advantage of a Eurotunnel offer, and decided to go to France for the 1st time. We usually head east through Belgium to Germany or onwards to Scandinavia. This gives us plenty of suggestions for northern France

Hi, us again! Just one further point. When leaving Calais is there a favourite stop for people for the first night that is safe. I suspect a lot of campsites would be closed until end March early April. Thank

Use ChatGBT.

Enter in “devise a 5 day motorhome trip from Eurotunnel staying in (specify if you want Aires or sites) …” state what you are interested in seeing, if you like small villages, town or cities. The more descriptive you are about what you want the better the outcome. It will give you lots of options which you can take or ignore and if you ask it will also sort the driving route with time and distance.

I do it now for every holiday, it formed the basis for our 6 week trip to Belgium, Luxembourg and Alsace in the autumn and even used it for a recent holiday including cruise to Mauritius, Madagascar and South Africa.

What time you getting into france?

Might save Bayeux until we have a bit more time, thanks for the advice though. We will go to Honfleur though.
I don@t think the campsite is open until April.

Just follow your nose along the coast of Brittany and Normandy, you would be amazed what you will find.
Stone circles to rock sculpture, seafood, steak and everything in between. 👍

PS. There is a Green Michelin guide that covers just this area, might be worth finding.

Are you taking any children or are you big kids at heart? If so try Parc Astreix to the Northeast of Paris

Le Touquet is a pleasant place to visit.

We found Boulogne to be really nice to visit, especially the old walled town with Egyptian artefacts.

Dieppe was another pleasant place to visit.

Honfleur, as said, was very good.

Rouen town is a particularly nice place to visit, enjoy the time there.

I added your request to Co-pilot and got the following

Please propose a plan using a motorhome, for a 5 day visit in the area between Rouen and Calais in France. Starting and ending at the Euro tunnel in Calais. Listing aires to stay in and places to see.

That sounds like a fantastic trip! Here's a suggested itinerary for your 5-day motorhome adventure between Rouen and Calais:

  • Boulogne-sur-Mer: Visit the Basilica of Notre-Dame, the Old Town, and the Castle Museum.
  • Stay at Aire de Camping Car Boulogne-sur-Mer: A well-serviced aire with facilities.

### Day 2: Boulogne-sur-Mer to Dieppe
  • Le Touquet-Paris-Plage: Enjoy the beach and the lighthouse.
  • Dieppe: Explore the historic port, the Château de Dieppe, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts.
  • Stay at Aire de Camping Car Dieppe: A peaceful spot with scenic views.

### Day 3: Dieppe to Rouen
  • Rouen: Visit the famous Cathedral of Notre-Dame, the Gros Horloge, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts.
  • Stay at Aire de Camping Car Pont de L'Arche: A lovely aire next to the river Seine.

### Day 4: Rouen to Amiens
  • Amiens: Discover the stunning Amiens Cathedral, the Hortillonnages, and the Musée de Picardie.
  • Stay at Aire de Camping Car Amiens: A well-equipped aire with nearby amenities.

### Day 5: Amiens to Calais
  • Sangatte: Visit the Sangatte Lighthouse and the Musée de la Guerre.
  • Return to Calais: Arrive back at the Eurotunnel terminal to catch your train back home.

This itinerary offers a mix of historical sites, beautiful coastal towns, and charming countryside stops. Enjoy your trip and bon voyage! 🚐✨

We were surprised when you recommended this place being in Calais but the reviews seem to indicate it is safe. Do you need a Camping Car park card for these places

About ten years ago we parked overnight in our van on their large carpark. The usual only one meter apart.

The aire has laid out pitches so plenty of space but not the 6m we get on uk sites.

What about garages?

The seat back collapsed on our old Talbot Express. I removed the broken frame and stripped off the upholstery. A local garage welded the frame, would not take any money. We dropped off some cakes for them later, they seemed suprised. Perhaps not the custom in France.p

That went a few years ago, you can't park a MH on Calais seafront any more. The new aire is a short walk from the seafront at the Bleriot Plage end.

The CCP site is not a car park, but a proper aire only for mohos with a reasonable amount of space between vehicles... about two or three metres.

Hi there seem to be 2 apps for the aires, AireCampingCar.com and Campingcarpark.com. Is one better than the other, do they both use a card.
