2021 2.3 Ducato - What tool/size is needed for the sump plug?

OK - although I don't need to I shall give it a try for research purposes.

To be fair - this is going to be an 'interim' or extra service so no need to reset the service counter really.

Be careful, resetting the service light can bring up a "service coupon" expired notice that then needs a resetting.I have used the reset sequence outlined and yes it worked, but somehow I used up all 9 service coupons in the process. Kannon Fodda very kindly reset it for me.

IIRC mines a 14mm allen socket drain bung, on a 2019. Fiat 2.3 . I carry one in the van, just in case!!

I think you must have that wrong. 2021 2.3 is 12mm. 2019 must be the same engine.

Could do with the oil change re-set doing with the multiECUscan, change the oil every year myself and do the re-set with the dancing pedals routine which I have to say has worked faultlessly until now.
Changed it this time and when doing the pedal re-set the oil can did the usual flashes as is normal but then every time I switched the ignition on it read “change engine oil” which only stayed on for a few seconds, strangely we’ve just come back from the Peak District & the change oil message has now stopped, we’re away over the channel in a few weeks and I’m concerned the dreaded message may return & the countdown to limp mode?

Thanks for this kind offer, unfortunately our journeys are all north until we cross the channel in June & think that would be cutting it too fine.
I have found a guy who owns a very small garage close to us that thinks he can do the re-set he uses ‘Autul’ kit so will give him a try. Again thanks for the offer.

None of the above replacements are "expert level" - so is it worth paying more for the items, and >£100/h labour? Its worth paying if expert skills needed for jobs where skills needed, but for run of the mill service where the most junior will do it on a bonus to do it as quick as possible (whilst still charging fixed rate) doesn't feel like good value.

Absolutely. But considering OE filters are under £15 delivered why would you go cheaper?! On a £250 car, maybe, but on a campervan....!

Same as cheap oil. Same as cheap/chinese fuel filters (why risk any contamination of a high pressure diesel fuel system which could be many £000's to diagnose/fix). Same as chinese sensors that may work but be quite a few % off and cause over or under fueling and subesquent problems

Don't get me wrong, I buy cheap chinese tat and cloned/fake/3rd party stuff almost daily - but not where there is any POTENTIAL increased risk for large impact.

Must admit I didn't have one and couldn't be bothered at this stage so just went ahead. Lets hope for the best. To be fair - I do not recall replacing sump washers for many years on either of my cars. (without issue)

Pollen filter, fine, but what size are the two little bolts holding the flap in? Not 5 not 6mm (surely not 5.5!) 7/32 fitted (IIRC) but a bit weird!

Sump plug, needed long torque wrench to undo - supposed to be 22nm not 122! Replaced (with new plug crush washer) and torqued correctly. (I'll see if it leaks tomorrow and see if thats why it was tight!)

Used my new set for a 12mm hex key (10-->12). And can you believe it I've lost it already.

2hrs trying to remove oil filter and failing, 2 different strap wrenches failed and everything I tried failed. Borrows one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35451287...pid=5339023013&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 and that worked (one on order!) - needed a full revolution (with long torque wrench) to be able to finish by hand.

No idea why everything is so tight! Fuel filter still to do.... (and MES reset). But does look like the filters I replaced are of the right age of the last service.

Nothing complicated or expensive so far thats for sure.

(Interestingly, only just under 5L drained out (plus spillage plus oil filter)

I noticed that! Needed imperial sockets, most bizarre.

Only ever done mine hand tight. I don’t usually need anything except my hands to undo them. It must have been tight!

5.5mm is standard in alot manufacturers. You'll find them in all sorts of places, VAG the whole stellantis group. My son's Corsa had them keeping most of the dashboard on.

My 2013 is the same. Fiat say 5.7 or 5.9 litres but it’s only ever taken 5l to the correct level. I even wondered if the dipstick was the wrong one.

My 2015 is the same on the odd occasion I had it serviced at a garage it was always over filled. When I've done the change myself I've never got more than 4 to 4.5ltr out, that was half way up the dipstick. I did wonder if it was the correct dipstick and there was a few suggestions on the internet that there were some vans that had the incorrect one fitted but nothing conclusive.
