Can anyone advise the period in terms of years/miles that the Cam Belt should be changed on a 2014 2.3? I have always gone for 5 years but the Dealer of our next Van has said 7years/70000miles but I cant seem to confirm this?

5 years, just had ours (2014 2.3 150) done by a Fiat Professional garage who contacted Fiat to double check the parts required and if it needed to be done. Ours has only covered about 18000 miles. Fiat said the full belt kit should be replaced including pulleys and water pump.
I’m still getting over paying the bill.

Let us share your pain, please tell us how much Fiat Pro charged?
As its out of the Fiat 2 year warranty period, We can then look around at independent garage prices, and maybe get some good reviews of places other funsters would recommend in all ares of The UK maybe.
Many Thanks
Les

Just wish they would use chains instead of belts, never had anything to worry about on my range of BMW;s, over the years, and they all came with indicators as standard, but that was about it, everything else was an option:D Bit like Carthago really:cry:

It was £360 plus vat for the cam belt kit alone. The whole bill was £1070 including all filters/oils, brake fluid change (first one in five years), rectifying a red light air bag fault, labour and MOT.
The garage were wanting to just change the belts but when they contacted Fiat they insisted the full kit should be done, what can go wrong with the pulleys at that mileage is beyond me.
To be fair to the garage though my services have been £129 and two at £280 including MOT so far.

Just wish they would use chains instead of belts,
& most don't realise that the chains , certainly on most Fords, need changing also.
but when they contacted Fiat they insisted the full kit should be done, what can go wrong with the pulleys at that mileage is beyond me.
They can come apart .I lost idler or tensioner bearing collapsing 4 weeks ago in Poitiers ,both of which were barely 2 years old & with a belt only changed 5 months back & less than 1k kms ,so about 7k in miles.& they were SKF.

Thanks for the answers - I have gone old fashioned and called a couple of Fiat Commercial Garages (Ancaster (Dartford) and Eurovans (Crawley)) and they have both said 4 years, while Yeomans (Eastbourne) are saying 6/7 years. So now I am even more confused. (Yeomans also just quoted £912 to change it!)

Shouldn’t the question be asked to FIAT rather than garages?

How do people manage to post and read on a forum but they can't read a book?
It clearly states the timing belt should be changed at least every 5 years on page 241 of my handbook, may be a different page in your handbook, - It's not hard. :D

It probably is hard after five years, that’s why it needs changing.
Not your problem anyway Lenny HB you never keep one long enough do you?
Had the first van 6 years only changed last time because of the silly deal we were offered.:D

Have you looked in the FIAT handbook. It should be there under the service schedule.

I don't have the handbook as I haven't picked the Van up yet and my current Van has a chain.

I will ask the question (I have already posted in the Fiat Forum but will ask them direct thanks.

Fiat handbooks are available online took me less than 30 sec to find. ?

I'm impressed, not many people can afford to go through The Putin School of Diplomacy these days, you clearly did the masters course.
