Camper has been in the garage for a few weeks having the ABS system sorted out!
Workshop phoned this afternoon to say it was all fixed but now it wouldn’t start! Apparently when the key is turned there is a couple of beeps but that is all. They asked me if I had an immobiliser and told them no. Any ideas please?

Any padlock light showing on the dashboard?

Thank you for the response and I will ask them in the morning
I would think it has a factory fitted immobiliser, the padlock on the dash should go out when the ignition key is turned to the 1st click.

Solution: The fuse for the heater element which burns off condensation had blown so they disconnected it as it is not needed and is a common problem in vans of my age (2003). I have been using Adams Morley in Southampton for 17 years so trust them and they tell me that there are lots of campers running with it disconnected.

Thanks for getting back with the solution. I'm not sure what this heater element is though, I wonder if my 2004 2.8jtd has one?

surely just disconnecting would be the same as blown fuse, did they bypass it somehow, couldnt they have put a new fuse in

I was thinking that, blown fuse disconnects things 🤔
Dont get me wrong Im glad it’s fixed but as I run a 2.8jtd a bit more info on the “heater element” would be good 👍

Sorry Old Salt this is confusing the hell out of me. Heater plugs have an element but not used for condensation removal but to aid burning the fuel and are needed. Windscreen condensation but mines not got a heated windscreen?
Definately confused dot com 🥴

They bypassed it as at the campers age they tend to blow and apparently you don’t need it!
I’m just the messenger and I am happy with their advice

Fully understand Badknee so if you find out anything I would be interested to hear about it

Van started ok before going into the garage.

Van been in the garage to have work done on it.

Work now done but engine won't start.

I think I know who should sort it out... (without any Funster guess work...) :whistle2:

JJ

Thats a very informative site gus-lopez. Thanks.

I understand why disconnecting it solved the problem. But reading that article info. I think I would now want to get it fixed. Its an expensive, engineered solution. If it wasn’t needed, Fiat wouldn’t have fitted it.
