2.3 or 2.8 ducato?

Is there any way to tell if a 2004 fiat ducato is a 2.3 or 2.8 by looking at the engine?

The van I am buying is down as a 2.8 but I would like to double check, as I understand that there was some confusion at it's initial registration !

give the vin number and engine number to any ducato dealer they can tell you
