My old van is running well apart from the fact that I have noticed it's not accelerating as well as it should. It picks up speed well , just as it normally does, but then will not go right up the range as usual. Top speed on a motorway used to be just over 70 mph but it struggles to reach 60 at the mo. Is there a quick fix or should I just take it to my garage for diagnosis. I am due a service and MOT in April and don't really want to put it in 2 months early

Have the injector tested, common problem with old diesel engines.

Agree with chatteris & Badknee. change air/fuel filters, you could try some injector cleaner in thr tank too.

ii wouldnt put injector cleaner in a van that old i did it on an 05 van and fuel pump disintergrated a week later
check for any brakes binding easy check is go round after a run see if any of the wheels are hot

Is it turbo?
If so listen for hissing sound on acceleration and check for cracked rubber hoses on the boost side.

My 1.9TD wouldn't do 60mph downhill...
