Ducato X250 offside rear door, stiff hinge.
Tried to get lubricant into hinge but not very successful.
There must be someone out there who has cured this?

Keep dribbling Penetrating oil over it and work the door...

Hopefully it will eventually get inside and free it...

Possible cause because it is the least opened door and water has got in and hinge rusted up..

If you find a cure please mention it on here.... Loads of people would love to know the answer.

The hinge has a plastic insert which somehow swells and eventually seizes solid twisting the door edge and/or frame.
While you can still get at it drill out the rivets and fit a new one.

It's a known problem and can lead to the door skin cracking if not addressed. I treat my hinges with ACF-50 anti corrosion penetrant on a regular basis and all I can say is that I haven't had any problems yet!

I know some people have drilled into the hinges through the hinge casting to regularly inject grease.

If it's a nylon insert don't use WD40 as it makes nylon swell.

Could I fit a grease nipple, just enough to get into the outside of the assembly, and remove it after using it? Find some way of sealing hole off?

Hi again, just tried injecting Plusgas penetrating oil into hinge, and maybe it’s working a bit. Following up with high viscosity oil dribbled over top of hinge.
Does anyone know how to extract the top pin on the hinge?
Looked like it was a hex-drive but not so.
Don’t know cross section of hinge so not sure how to approach removal etc
Regards

Chances are it was pressed in and an interference fit in either the larger section or the smaller bottom section.
It it turns with the top & bottom bits it's in the bottom, it it doesn't move its in the middle section.

i had to take mine of and put it in a vice to get it moving lots of oil and a long bar

Just to update you.
My routine of using a plastic pipette filled with Plusgas followed by high viscosity oil and lots of gentle opening and closing has worked a treat!
Door pretty well back to normal
