Has anybody come across A class double-glazed driver or side windows blowing and needing replacing ?

We are looking at a 2009 Cathargo and the front cab windows have been replaced recently as they blew and was advised this is a common problem though not one I have come across.

Anyone shed any light on the matter ?

Never had it happen on our last three motorhomes - would it be covered on windscreen insurance? Very expensive otherwise.

If by ‘blowing’ that means the seals failing allowing moisture to form between the panes, then yes it’s something that happens, usually over time.

Not too worried about the insurance to be honest as already replaced but whether it could be hiding a more serious issue ie damp that may not be obvious.

We had both side windows on our ancient RMB “done” last year

couldnt find find anyone in UK willing to do it
canal boat window firm had some of our previous RMB windows ( again 20 year old van) but wouldnt touch these. The current are three part windows - top slider and bottom panel. We found someone in West Yorkshire a few years ago to do the bottom panels but werent prepared to do the sliders.
on a trip to a Germany we detoured to visit the recommended workshop of previous RMB workers
they said they sent windows off to somewhere near Berlin!

so we planned another Germany trip - glaziers not near Berlin really but Bautzen
spent a night on their forecourt
excellent job

nearly came a cropper trying to pay though- I’d arranged it through TransferWise I’d used very successfully before but their site went down!
no one using Credit cards there - local banks - and UK branch -completely unhelpful
Luckily our son had a German employee with a German account wiling to help!!

there is one manufacturer owners club, sorry can't remember which, that has a deal with a specialist to re-manufacture the cab side double glazed windows. It is quite common that they "blow" and mist up over time due to the way they are made. It is very hard to source replacements as they are much thinner than a standard double glazed panel and few places have the tooling to make them up

Our windows were taken out, “cleaned” and put back in - great job

The panels are 12mm total, so as standard that is 3mm toughened glass and 6mm spacer, the problem is toughening 3mm so you have to use 4mm to remake a panel so then you have to use 4mm heritage glazing/spacer bars.

How do I know? because I had new panels made for our Flair.

Not sure if you're a member of the Carthago group but one member recently posted on the FB group a DIY repair and others had advised of repairers they had attended when the same issue had occurred; I seem to recall someone suggested an independent double glazing firm?
The DIY option looked doable if you happen to be practically minded.

But in answer to your question, the issue does appear to be common and very much a solution that can be resolved if it was to occur (y)

Thanks all for the feedback sounds like it does happen and rectifiable.
This should take you back to my thread back in 2015, It was a N+B Flair but a lot are similar.

, our Hymer S820 had it, we sold before it became a real issue but we have seen vans where it gets that bad you cannot see through the side windows which becomes dangerous and would fail MOT. It was notorious for happening on S820 and became a running joke when meetings others.

Our Concorde had new cab side windows both sides paid for by the dealer as part of the sale in 2018.

We had it done at a really professional place Autoglas in Germany there is only one depot that specialise in it, busglas vom profi is their logo.

Really set up for replacing motorhome glass double glazing, a specific free stellplatze at their premises with EHU, water, waste disposal, the lot

Great service, really professional set up.
