Electric Bed wont come down!

50 years of boating, just one on motorhomes.
HI, In trouble here because I was to clever for my own good. I have a Bavaria 71LP, which is basically a Pilotes in a different style from 2012. The bed has not gone all the way up for some time and I keep painfully banging my head, about 6" down from normal. I had taken it into a motorhome service company here (Portugal) and they had no idea how to fix it. Then I found a thread on here that said simply hold the two buttons down for 10 seconds and it will go up as far as it can. To my delight and amazement it did, problem solved. However, my balloon was rapidly deflated as I can no longer lower it, it just pathetically rapid beeps when I press a button, either up or down. I found a further comment that said hold the two buttons again and it will drop to the lower limit, but it just trys to edge up a bit more. Please can anyone help or I am going to be either sleeping in the drivers seat or the floor this weekend.

Nothing important but the mechanism is not in them, its behind them I have never tried to remove them and I cannot see any obvious screws so I think they are fitted from above

There will be a hole somewhere to wind it down.
It's possibly out of sync now due to not fully going up and you re calibrating it with the press both buttons.
Can you add a bit pressure to get it to go up any?

Have a look for an allen key if it's a Project 2000 bed - sometimes it can be stored around the base of the bed according to feedback on here - it's used to manually wind the bed up & down but likely to be a lot of effort.

I guess you may have the same bed control as me. It's a right pita. Hole doth buttons together for about 10 seconds. mine has done the same and wife buggered up the control button handset so had to send it off for repairs. DON'T press the buttons too hard as my wife did.

Why they fit these things is beyond me.

I am really lost as to what it is trying to do. Maybe its my fault as the bed was not fully down when I first pressed the two buttons for ten seconds, it was in the head banging six inch down position. It immediately went up as far as it could. Now, if I press the down button it just rapid beeps, same with the up button and if I press both for ten seconds it try's to go up and cant

That's exactly what mine did. The instructions say to press both buttons for 10 seconds. When I sent mine off they said the buttons had been pressed too hard, and they had to replace the small pcb in the hand set.
Mines not back yet,but may not bother fitting g it.
The actuators alone cost £1200 so whatever motorhome builders charge I dread to think

And its fixed :-)

I wish I could be really confident in saying how though. Went back to the van, pressed both buttons and the motor was making a noise and not going anywhere. Gave the bed a really good tug down and it went straight down, stopped at the proper place and the up button took it back to the fully up position. I have cycled it half a dozen times and it worked perfectly. I cant come up with a good reason as to why though. Very odd. Anyway great result.

I was going to suggest a tug whilst pressing as thats what i would do but didnt want to encourage you to break it

We have an electric powered bed. I have never seen any manual operation mechanism. Will look today! What a downer! No pun intended!

So, to recap in case anyone picks this up in the future having thought about it overnight.

1. Don't push the two buttons too hard or they will break (no more than in normal operation).
2. When you press the two buttons stop pressing them where you want the top to be, don't just go all 'gung ho' and wait until the motor stalls because it can go no further like I did!
3. I think you then wait a minute and it should work normally, I believe the bleeping noise was because it could not move in either direction because I had jammed it into the top.
4. To bring it down I held both buttons and gave it a tug down (I exaggerated, it was not that much).
5. I still don't know how it works out the button but in my case it was not an issue because I think that was the extent of the travel in the mechanism.

Looks like you have pillows and bedding on the bed i.e. an obstruction, and to avoid damage, the mechanism stops trying to raise the bed to its highest level. If at all possible can you try to drag out the bed sheets/duvet/blankets and pillows and try resetting the mechanism again?

Ditto, even tried it to make sure I knew what to do, most unlike me. Fortunately the first 20k have been faultless, surprising, given the grandkids, and grown ups, seem to think its a toy and its been up and down more times than the proverbial .... ........

Have to say my project 2000 bed has been faultless in the last six years, but it only goes up and down once a day (when we're in it).

I have a T678CL Hyner with the central electric drop down bed. When I bought it s/hand the bed wasn't working. After a lot of googling I eventually got it to work after pressing the buttons in a way which reset it. However I tried so many different combinations I can't say what actually worked. I got in touch with dealers and Hymer but they weren't any help....The only 'manual' that came with it was for the handset/motor.
There was what looks like manual 8" key in the van but despite intensive searching I can't find where it might fit. I've searched in the cupboards and up the sides of the bed. Any tips much appreciated.

From memory the control unit looks the same as the one we had in two Burstner Elegance motorhomes (2012 & 2014) You may get some details of the recommended resetting procedure from search Burstner or someone here may be able to help. We didn’t sleep in ours, but stored a table on it and it need reset fairly frequently. Unfortunately, I can’t recall how I did it.
