Initial thought was Thistles but don't think so.

Purple or Blue tansy, aka ‘Fiddleneck’ (I think!), namwaldog

(Same family as forget-me-nots!!)

The heads of the flowers curving over the stem look like the head of a violin - hence the name!!

A few more as we move further north in Scotland....

Lossiemouth....

Sorry can't resist again. We are at Bay View again, only left last Thursday after mum's funeral.

We had booked Coniston Park Coppice, arrived but almost full and IMO not a site for us, looked a bit of a mess and too shaded.

So we popped down to Bay View.

Photo just shows tide, in distance, way up into the bay, first time I have seen like that since I was a kid.

That looks roundabout where the Cross Bay Walks started from.

About 3-4 hours walk at low tide across the sands and channels to Grange over Sands. We did it in the early eighties as a charity walk and got a chartered double deck bus back!

Cedric Robinson, the Queens Bay Guide, died quite recently...

Yes, mum did it in the 80s as well.

Still at Glencaple on the bank of the Nith near Dumfries. Weather closed in this afternoon, hill in background on first (yesterdays photo) known as Criffel and swathed in folklore going back centuries now totally obscured, 😱
