Have a look at Scancom data sim either on their own website or, usually cheaper on their Amazon site. We got a 500Gb / monthly 3 data sim valid for around 2 1/2 years for a total upfront cost of £89 last year.

If you've got Amazon Prime you can get the same valid through to November 2027 for £69.99 today!

Break the mould and buy Starlink mini, exhaustive data plans and will work everywhere. Leave poor quality mobile data behind, it’s day is close to done!

That's a good deal as there is also another 10% off making it £62.99 that's just over £2.30 a month for 500GB, can't see that being beaten, and it's now Vodafone and 3 as they (3) were brought out earlier this year, so signal should get better. UK use only though

Indeed, by March next year they've committedd to allow cross roaming on around 10,000 towers between 3 and Voda, as well as imrprove capacity and frequncy coverage.

3 at £2 a month is frankly unbeatable as they'll have the most spectrum and the most coverage with the most cell towers of all of the providers by mid next year.

Warning though at moment cross roaming from Three to Voda towers is only enabled on 30 of the busiest towers (end June 2025, but they are adding more towers very quickly given the above 10k target).

Also worth noting that we've only failed to have 5g coverage on Three on 2 of our campsite stays in UK this year. Three have been doing a great job rolling out 5g in recent months. By 5g, I mean native 5g, faster than starlink mini coverage levels. To get most our of these sims you need a device capable of 5g, as the 4g cat4 frequencies on Three can be congested. However, on a modern device on the band 28, n1, and n78 coverage (usually needing a cat20 device on 5g) you will often beat starlink.

Why would you want to go from 3 to Vodafone for a better signal Vodafone have hardly any 5g coverage and are having to join up with 3 network because Vodafone bought cheap 5g Huawei equipment and had to send it back to China having had Vodafone for years and changed to idmobile 3 network yes 3 needs more coverage out of town and the Vodafone will help I'm sat in Hucknall using idmobile 5g with Vodafone I couldn't make a phone call.

The reason being frequency coverage. BEtween 3 and Voda's allocatiosn they have about double what EE has now on near all bands. Meaning each tower can do double to triple the data before.

Also more importantly it unlocks band 8 (900mhz) coverage for Three, which means between B28 and B8 they'll have tons of low frequency cover for inside buildings.

Remember part of this will be enabling band 8 coverage on Three towers, as well as 5g stuff using 3 frequencies (wider) on voda towers.

Between 3 and voda they'll also have substantially more cell sites than anyone else too, in more places.

Having both will surely improve coverage rather than just relying on one. Personally I don't rate 5g on my network I.e EE, never been able to use my phone when it's on 5g, I prefer 4g to be honest. I am sure it will get better but it's not there yet.

This don't look a bad shout and the offer is still on.

I use Labara for £10 a month and can suspend any time you don’t need. Works for me with the sim in my Mi-Fi unit which lives in the van.

How much data do you get for that?

I used smarty for 4 months as we moved house and needed a temporary connection till we had full fibre. Two of us using it for the tabs, computer, smart speakers and tv's etc'
Worked very well and is now on hold till we go away in the van in September.

Am I right in thinking those Scancom ones are UK data only? (that's what a quick search seemed to suggest)

Still quite impressive value though. I saw they also have an unlimited data one that's the equivalent of £10/month

Wouldn't bother with the unlimited ones, they have a soft limit of 1Tb, and cost more per month than 2 500Gb at moment.

I say this owning an unlimited Three sim (that does roam -> but fair use limiited) that I'm swapping for a 500Gb one off the current deal, as it's better than Three direct at current time.

I doubt these deals will last though, as with VodaThree now existing upon renewal I suspect prices to increase a lot come 2027. However in meantime, I'm happy with my under £2 a month for 500Gb each month.

I've also got the unlimited 3 and buy the data passport if needed when abroad.

Three have always been very good on data pricing so I really hope that the new Voda/3 merger doesn't ruin that - but I suspect you're right and we'll see a price increase.

I have to say the 500Gb is looking very tempting and just get a local SIM when abroad (or finally upgrade the router to an eSIM...)

We just keep a second sim (and third) in the van in the bag with the toll pass. Swap in the tunnel. (Three doesn't work in tunnel anyhow so gives us something to do). Honestly as long as you have an hour spare, just stop at the Leclerk in Bologne for a sim as plenty of space for a motorhoem there (the route to get a motorhome into Leclerk Etaples the other way isn't as easy to find).

Given we're off (likely again) at short notice this summer we've kept the Reglo sim going at a massive cost of 1.50 euro a month so what £15 a year ish. The website clearly shows when your monthly bundles work, and you just need to remember to reactivate the 400Gb prior to the monthly bundle date of your next trip.

Roaming with UK networks is so much slower than the 5g you get on SFR with Reglo.

For the UK, we use a Superdrug Mobile monthly sim. I know it's not a pure data sim but we've never had a problem with streaming, Teams calls etc., and usually have several devices going at the same time.

It's £20 per month for Unlimited Calls, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data. You can also pause it for up to 6 months before you lose it altogether.

You can order a sim online or pick one up in-store.

The dashboard is easy to use and Customer Service is very good :)
