Bladders too big for our boots

We - the least intrepid travellers on the planet- are starting to go off grid. Our toilet cassette needs emptied every day. At most - a day and a half.
This is restricting our off grid adventures since we are not of the spade and bogroll variety.
We were thinking of getting a spare cassette but have no garage.
Does anyone else have a spare loo cassette gently sloshing in transit ?

We can do 4/5 days on a cassette. I never use our toilet to pee in, instead I have a hospital pee bottle & empty when half full into trees/hedges/drains etc. More than halves the liquid content going into the cassette. Flushing is kept to a minimum too. When out & about cafes & public loos are used.

I'm not averse to a hedge pee, however when you've woken up at 3am needing to micturate and it's cold and wet outside then the comfort of a pee bottle is not to be underestimated.

Me too . This is a recent discovery as when I'm travelling and off grid I never use the cassette . But living and working on a site at present with emptying facilities I'm using it. I only empty it once a week on a Saturday morning before I go off site for the weekend.

We struggle to get past two days aswell. we also carry a spare cassette in a locker but I do like the solution by Two on Tour

If im on the beer, ours will last 2 days, on the wine 3-4 days.

Drink whisky, it’ll last a week

That would be a risk I wouldn't be willing to take at 3am. Its a 50/50 chance at that time ill hit a target as big as an actual toilet bowl let alone a Pee bottle!

Even off grid try to use public loos whenever possible and I (as a man) will happily find a bush to pee behind instead of using the loo.

I think they have got smaller. The old long cassette in my old Kontiki 640 from the last century was massive. 22 or 24 litres I think. The shorter stubby modern ones I think are about 17.

Bench ones hold an extra 2 Lt over the swivel bowl ones and ones before wheels held 1 or 2 litres more.

We could do 4 days with a bench one but only 3 days with a swivel bowl.

That makes sense … we have swivel bowl and empty every 3 days. I think we’ll try using cheap loo roll and pink spray squish though …

The other stuff goes out the window, but doesn’t really blow far, due to the sticky nature of it

We have a dometic loo, cassette with wheels. Don’t know capacity. We empty when casette is half full, because of weight. We use the loo as at home. If paper hasn’t dropped through the hole then push it down with finger, dont flush it down. Minimum water when priming loo. Minimum flush. Our cassette will then last 2 to 2.5 days. So if didn’t empty until full, much longer.

Now that's a thing, we have the old long one, and always thought these newer ones don't look as big but thought perhaps they were taller but obviously not and goes some way to explaining the different length of time between emptying.

We have ‘pee’ bottles; wife uses shewee. As cycling tourists we got accustomed to using pee bottles (2am in a tent and its raining - a bottle is the way to go).
