How Do They Justify These Prices

Just been looking at a site we used to have a caravan on a few years ago. We were thinking about having a visit for a few days but at these prices I don’t think so.
Ok so they have a shop and a club room open at weekends but that is taking the urine.
Do they actually set these prices to deter touring caravans and motorhomes.

So that £49 a night for us without electric, £3 each for x2,dogs and an awning

I’ve just booked a fortnight

There’s a site on the south coast where some Concorde owners gather in summer, £90 a night, I’m in the skint old Concorde owners group but I’m the only member
 
Well thank you for the minimum wage and the rise in NI ☹️ we all have to pay to keep it up to standard 😳
We like many on here enjoy the relatively easy cheap lifestyle of Motorhomes, but if it gets priced off the market we will just use hotels or b&b🙂

Just come back from 5 days at St Neots C&CC non ehu for £12/nt.
Enjoyed it so much that I've booked again for next month, surprisingly the pitch is £10.35/nt

These 'Club' sites are just so expensive :rolleyes:
 
People pay it, that's why. The deflation we had for years is over and prices are on the rise for everything. Manufacturing that brings wealth to a country is now all in China, welcome to the new world 🤗🫣

I remember as a child my parents used to take us to sites that were a few quid a night, there were limited services (basically porta potties in a field with water supplied), often some form of entertainment. One I remember we went to a few times was for Spalding flower festival, across the road from a posh site with dry-slope skiing and other activities.
Do sites like this still operate? There was a guy who marshalled who had a Noddy car (from the series Noddy).

Another one there was jousting and it was like a medieval festival.
 
I just wouldn’t pay or stay there, I’ve just payed £37 for a night near highbridge/burham-on-sea…. However I did get two carvery’s a pint of Guinness and two lime and sodas thrown in….☺️
 
I refuse to pay the prices.

Just booked a site for £25 a night for all of us without electric.

I genuinely think this will be the year that lots of people who got vans during Covid will chuck it in and go abroad via plane.

Not ever seen a ski slope in Spalding🙂 but we do have a mountain rescue team in our local pub that meets on a Sunday afternoon👍 not that you would want them to rescue you after 3pm on a Sunday 🤣

Tallington Lakes Leisure Park. I think the event was for the flower festival, maybe we were outside of Spalding a bit... I was about 8 at the time.
 
Those prices make cruising a bargain.

I know some people say they would rather stick needles in their eyes than go on a cruise but we have enjoyed the cruise holidays we have done - and I'm pretty sure it's either not possible or very difficult to motorhome in Greenland or Svalbard!!!! Two of the places we've visited by small cruise ship.

Prices are all over the place, currently sat on a haven @£50 for 5 night including ehu and passes you have to look at when and which route to book it though.

I was paying 50% less than that a month for a mortgage in the late 70's. :eek:
 
The answer to your question is they don't have to justify their prices, they can charge what they like, we the buyers of their services have a choice, I never liked paying £30 a night but have accepted that to stay on sites in places that I want to go, I have to pay more.

Just done a dummy booking for Boroughbridge next week.
£19.10 a night for grass no electric or £27.60 grandstanding with electric. That's midweek for a PVC and 2 oldies.

Envious! Over the late May BH 3 nights £130 on hardstanding with ehu. Not awfully I suppose.

Remember paying 50p a night for one like than in Kent when we had a trailer tent.

I really don't see the attraction of these modern club sites with there regimented gravel hard standings and strips of grass between them - yuck.

They still exist, they are called THS or DA club meets, we have just been to one on the outskirts of York for £13 per night and the Easter weekend was £17 per night with a room two entertainers, Bingo and silly games (not compulsory).

But how much is that in school holidays. We use them too but the prices out of season are just a loss leader in the hope you pay to use the other services like pub, restaurants, activities etc.

School holidays are normal prices.
The discounted prices are equivalent to prices for Christmas cards in January and Easter eggs after the event.

Funny you should make your comments.
We shared a table on a cruise that was £66 a night each with a couple who told us their regular pitch for their caravan in Cornwall was £70 a night.
For that they got 100sq.yds. of grass, a tap and somewhere to empty their cassettes.
On the cruise he got entertainment, as much food as he could eat and a 45 nt. trip to the Caribbean.
