Hi any tips, we need to store our 2 electric bikes better in the garage, we had a very simple thing that took the scooter wheel that the wheel just rode into and then we secured with straps.
Get a similar item or is there a better option.
Thank you

We had a fiamma double stand in last van that bolted thru floor, just using ratchet straps in new one.

If it's just to hold them while/until you tie down something like this might work,

On the new tandem we have a centre stand that is really useful and can be fitted to most frames I guess.

As posted on another thread, https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...ns-of-models-to-consider.313595/#post-6408896 we use 2 toast rack type supports that the rear wheels go into. They are adjustable for various width tyres, ours being 4" fat tyres. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CFTDR9DB?tag=mhf04-21 & a plastic one that was chosen for low weight and to trial. We put the bikes in front to rear and use a decathlon https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/bike-frame-adaptor-bar-for-bike-rack/_/R-p-328787 to join the 2 seat posts and basically create a solid box like structure so the bikes don't move. As each end has ratchets and quick release mechanisms it's easy to fit and remove. We then use a bungee on each pannier rack to secure to the eyelets in the garage floor rails. We do drop the handle bars more to quickly load than any other reason.

Cheap, simple, quick and easy to use.

We just ratchet strap the two bikes to the front wall of the garage.

We think that leaves more space in the rest of the area(two thirds) than using stands.

Could always do a swap with us when you get your new van? Will throw in Lola if that will seal the deal? Anyway we use a wheel steady like the ones found for parking front bike wheels about £15 off e bay its a lot like the drive in clamps for scooter wheels on offer at the moment

M Part Grandstand Single Bike Floor Stand £14.99

Deal. Who can resist a lola 🙂

I purchased an old 4 bike rear carrier and used parts to hold 2 bikes with plenty of room left. Inside bike has handlebars turned other one simply held by straps and original clamp with plastic pipe arm.

I copied this which has been great for a couple of years

I use this method as I often take 3 or 4 bikes. Worked well for me for over 10 years..

Sorry I never made a YouTube 📹 of it to tell everyone

Have a look at the Thule slide outs, expensive but soooo easy to use and top quality👍

Thule Velo slide is the correct name I think👍

Hiplok JAW work well if you mount them at one end of the garage and then just put the front wheel in

As has been said above= We had a fiamma double stand in last van that bolted thru floor.
Very simple and it fits either our small wheel folding bikes and our electric road bikes.

I have 2 of these Saris clamps screwed to a piece of wood that rests on the garage floor. Never been a problem. There are cheaper copies of these clamps on line.
One advantage of taking out the front wheels is that the bike forks are right up to the RH garage door, leaving space on the left of the garage (behind the bikes) for a stack of storage boxes.
The wheels can go in bags between the bikes or hung from the garage roof.
Removable pedals and the bars turned 90degrees are also a great help to get the bike close togetherFork Clamps.webp

Our garage is similar to yours in that there are recesses to the fore of the garage.
I use these to put the handles into and the pedal goes nicely into the bottom recess. The 2nd bike turns round opposite direction to the first, then I have 5 hooking points to hold the first bike next to the recessed wall and one solid clamping lock to hold the 2nd bike against the first. Then a loose bungy to stop the front tyre of the 2nd bike to move about.

Absolutely solid. No movement at all

Horses for courses. Was proffering our solution as example.

The recesses in our garage are used for various items such as 2 leisure batteries in bottom left. Inverter, collapsable crate containing tool box, tent pegs, watering can, storm straps and loads of other stuff upper left. The middle that can be reached from inside the hab area has a crate with our cycle shoes, gloves, helmets, locks etc. Bottom right has a hamster basket with e-bike chargers, also a socket to plug chargers into, awning shades and odds and sods. Upper right has black water connection hose, that will likely go elsewhere in an external locker as not actually used it yet. We have a full size spare wheel and tyre that is strapped into bottom left of garage to keep it in place.

Our e-bikes are very large, 1 is Height 41“ (105 cm) / Length 74” (188 cm) and weighs 32Kg with battery. 2nd is a step through Height 41.3“ (105 cm) / Length 76” (193 cm) and weighs 42Kg with battery. Hence 'locking' them together with the Decathlon adaptor. The adaptor can be applied/removed from outside the garage, as are the bungees. Too decrepit to climb in there to fit any more.  :ROFLMAO:

The toast racks are also used if we put the e-bikes in the toy store (our converted integral house garage to take up less space than using the rear inbuilt stand). Also use to fit in our SUV with front wheels removed, in concert with the Decathlon adaptor to prevent marking/tearing the leather and Alcantara trim.

We don't always take the bikes in the MH, so don't want fixed racks, to give us flexibility.

We also fit 1 table, 1 chair, 1 footrest in a bag x 2 that fit rear of the e-bikes on the shelf on the bottom of the rear wall. Air windbreak, pump go on the floor between the bike wheels.

Absolutely, unsure with the size of your bikes whether my system would work for you.
I keep getting tempted to try getting the motorbike in as well but even it successful, what a PITA that would be in getting either bikes or motorbike out of the garage.

I made some from timber but a bit heavy then bought a fiamma garage stand which is brilliant. Bought used from a funster 👍 We struggled to find something suitable as our e-bikes have small wheels.

Hi all
Can I just recommend buying some of these pedals if you store your bike or bikes in your motorhome:

They are an absolute game changer!
So easy to attach or remove & feel like normal MTB pedals.
Putting bikes in the garage without pedals sticking out & catching is sooo much easier!
There are several types of you don't want 'spikey' ones & these don't really need the yellow locking tabs (which are fiddly to remove) as the bit you slide to remove turn to lock anyway.
We tried several types of 'folding' pedal but they always felt unsteady after a while & never felt like 'normal' pedals.

We also remove them as an anti theft device when locked up - hopefully not many people will be carrying spares & difficult to pedal without them 😁

Cheers Chris

Ours are folding electric bikes. We use bungie straps attached to hooks in the garage. We everything else we have in the garage they aren't going anywhere.
