Sorry but don't understand where this Apple thing comes into it![]()
Its a genuine website started and run by a mate of mine Ken Hacking and his wife Adele Gibson who run another forum (motorhomers). Never realised before but his name could put a few people off nowadays
But your phone should let you know that you are being tracked if the AirTag doesn't belong to you.An Apple Tag is a tracking device, so if somebody hides one on or about your van, they will know where it is at any given time, for instance, if they want to know your home address or place it's store unattended with a view to nicking it.
Me neitherSorry but don't understand where this Apple thing comes into it![]()
Wonder why the perpetrator put the Apple AirTag in the hook up socket rather than sticking it somewhere less likely to be found? The other question which comes to mind, having done zero research, could any owned paired devices be identified from the AirTag?

So if an air tag goes out of range of person who placed it how do they find it again does it give position to any smart phone within range and then pass on to original ownerCorrect, but it will only let you know that an Air Tag is tracking you, but not it's hidden location, and on an Android phone, you need to have the "Tracker Detect" app loaded on your phone for Air Tags to be detected, plus the AirTag must be separated (out of phone range) from the tag owner for at least 15 minutes to appear.
Yeah. I got a notification a couple of weeks ago that I was being potentially tracked by a third party tag. It was for my own Chipolo tag on my keys that was registered using that phone! Thanks Google. The Android app Tracker detect will flag up if you have one on your van.

Thanks for clarifying that for me I did not completely understand how that workedYes, it's the iPhone or cellular iPad network that senses an Air Tag and sends it location to the tag owner on their Apple device.
surely only if it is an apple phone? But your phone should let you know that you are being tracked if the AirTag doesn't belong to you.
I have 4 or 5 called that? The Android app Tracker detect
And what would your weapon of choice be?surely only if it is an apple phone?

If it was my van I would arrange a surprise, drive out to a remote location, drop off tag in a dead end lane, motorhome moves on whilst I ambush whoever arrives looking for it.
Yes, they're fond of lithium batteries in bin lorriesIf you find one that's not yours, stick it on the local bin lorry.
The android app "Tracker Detect" is published by Apple and allows android owners to scan for dearby Apple Airtags.surely only if it is an apple phone?
