Just prior to the Lincoln show we stopped over at Brownhills ,Newark.
Having a look around the showroom ,they had plenty of new vans in. A lot of them were Ford bases. Nice big side windows.
But then I noticed that some didn't have window blinds. Sides or front.

Some dark vans had cream plastic blind holders/ surrounds which really stood out ,and looked awful imo.

Some dark vans had dark blind surrounds.Which blended well.

I asked one of the sales ,why did some vans not have window blinds and was advised the 18 months ago there was a shortage of blinds from the manufacturers so vans went out without them. I asked if they were to be fitted later? NO! Unless they were purchased ,at approx £500 each for the sides and £1000 for the front.
He said that you could just buy the suction stick on thermal padded internal covers, ???
If your looking at new vans just make sure yours has blinds fitted or it could prove to be a costly extra.

We noticed this a few weeks ago in France, the amount of new vans with curtains round the cab plus one van had clip on blinds.
We very rarely use ours as we use the silver screens unless wild camping

It's often been the case that cheaper vans don't have cab blinds as standard. You just get a curtain. Cab blinds are often in a Pack along with things like a fly net on the door.

Our new Adamo has Remis blinds and a curtain round the cab to the rear of the seats. I can’t see the point of the curtains unless they were fitted as a precaution against shortages of blinds.

Dont use the internal cab blinds that often, they always feel like they might break. Tend to use internal ones with suckers.

I think those pale ones look terrible and are surely going to have a load of dead flies and dirt trapped behind them pretty quick in a place where you can see them from the outside but can't get at to clean.

Curtains might be OK on a budget MH or self-build. Unacceptable on more expensive models to be sold without proper cab blinds as standard. They should be standard on all the other windows as well. I wouldn't accept internal screens with suckers instead. I've had a set of those, hated them, and gave them away.

The Westy California came with a bespoke set of high quality tailored curtains with poppers that were a perfect fit to the bodywork and didn't let in any light. Having to fit them every night was a pain.

100% agree.. a set came with our van , never used, pain to fit and bulky to store..

We don't have internal Remis cab blinds.. wish we had, but not available for our 2003 Ducato.. so we use the external Silver Screens.. quick and easy to fit with a roll down panel for daytime ..

We looked at Remis blinds for the MAN TGE (VW Crafter with different badges) that we are having converted.

We came to the conclusion that fitted blinds increased the A pillar dimensions to such an extent that they made driving dangerous due to the reduced visibility. Not to mention their fragility and extra frames around the door windows.

REIMO insulated internal covers with sucker fixings were our preferred option as they have been in all of our smaller PVCs. In my opinion they provide better sound and heat insulation.

Looking at the two examples with blinds I would be glad if they weren’t fitted, they look terrible in my opinion.
Agree with that ☝️
Not seen a set on a cab from any manufacturer that dont look like an aftermarket bodge from the outside

Our Hymer came with Remis blinds.
We use them in storage, but don't use them on the road, as they are too fragile,
We prefer to use the external silver screen, as it makes a lot of difference to the temperature, hot or cold.

Our Hymer also comes with a curtain rail, there is an optional heavy thermal internal curtain that can be fitted.
(Which if we ever go camping in the snow, I'll consider buying, or having made up.)

I made up some curtains for the front of the cab on my previous Majestic(Accordo). Made quite a difference in the cooler weather.

People retro fit a curtain as a barrier to cold in the Winter.
It also aids good Air con in the Summer as the a/C doesn't have to work on all the air inside the vehicle and just the 'cab' area.
