N+B iSmove 6.9
I‘m considering getting levellers, the dealer offers both HY4 and E&P, should I be drawn more to one than the other?
Any feedback would be welcome.
Thanks

Having seen the EP units at the NEC recently I was very impressed and reviewed very positively. Big old units too so payload will need to be considered. Doncaster is a bit of a way for me so will use Courtside Conversions just down the road in Tiverton (Devon) who get good reviews and are EP dealers.

You say your van is N+B in your profile (y) the HY4 system will only support up yo 6t so if it's a Flair you would struggle, there are a lot more E+P systems around than the AL-KO so they must be OK, a lot of the selling points for the AL-KO system I just don't get as they seem to be offering solutions to problems that don't exist.

I notice the Al-Ko is 13kg heavier might be of a concern for people with smaller vans.
Guess who owns E&P?

Thank you all, it is the iSmove, so not a weight issue to lift. But payload to consider.

I thought that they had heavier duty ones - I queried it with SAP as my van is 5.3 tonnes and right on the limit for the smaller ones

LNB Towbars in Bristol fitted our HPC levellers which have been great. They are just off Jct 16 of the M5 at Aztec West. It may be a closer fitter to you?

(y) I think HPC are a bit lighter than E+P and are gaining a decent market share as they are standard fit on a few German vans now rather than E+P.

The AL-KO website quotes 6t but you are OK with E+P for weight as they do various different rams, likewise HPC.

I’m on a sprinter chassis not Al-ko which might be it

The HY4 has a weighing system for checking gross weight and axle loads. Might be a helpful facility if you are weight watching.

Hpc blurb just says lighter because of aluminium. How does weight compare with E&P?

HPC is quoted at 40kg
E&P at 55kg

Unless you are really tight on payload, I don’t think that the 15kg will make a massive difference, but we went for HPC because it had the same functionality for a smaller weight and price, and Bristol is within reach for us. LNB did a fine job, even manufacturing a neat mounting plate for the hydraulic pump so it could be installed in our garage.

TBH, I think most of the systems are very similar and do the same job, so it’s down to personal choice.

I think you are correct in saying that there is not much to choose between HPC and E+P, the one that stands out as being different is the AL-KO HY4 system as instead of a central pump unit it uses a smaller pump at each corner, personally I think it just adds unnecessary complication, although I agree the corner weighing is a good tool, or is it a gimmick? I think Goldschmitt have something similar on a single pump set up.

Another satisfied customer here for E&P fitted by SAP(y)

Thank you all, lots to consider

Another E&P fan, fitted by Courtside Conversions in Tiverton

Has anyone ever had a problem with their Levelling System not retracting, or getting stuck. I mentioned to my local servicing agent that I was thinking about getting a system fitted when the Van was in for some work and he advised not to bother. He said they have regular call outs to instances of Rams / Pistons failing to retract

Only had E&P for 10 years so far, but never had that issue or heard of any friends with similar, if I had a problem I would read the instructions and pull them up manually.

Absolutely. We haven’t had that issue either, but, as funflair says, I would use the manual back-up pump if so.
