I'm a newbie
Away in this moring to get the Hymer MOT🤞 6 years old now I was hoping not to have to do this however my new Carthago has not arrived yet.

I got a shock recently when my usual garage told me that they were no longer allowed to MOT over 3.5 tonne. I rang round and same story all over the area. In the end I had to drive 15 miles to the nearest HGV testing station that will take Motorhomes for MOT. Still class 4 but getting difficult to get it done in my area. I assume it's the same round the country?

Our local commercial only has mot licence for mot's on their lift which is 3.5t so I have to go 15-20 miles.

We have 2 within a couple hundred yards in our local industrial estate. Hope it’s still the case as our MH is booked in next week for Service/MOT!!

Surely that is a limit on their ability to fit >3.5t on their lift and nothing to do with their license.... If they had bigger lift could they not MOT > 3.5t ?

Not allowed to do them over the pit which is how most places do bigger vehicles, the place I have take it to does it over a pit.

mine goes it tomorrow morning at the council garage fingers crossed
