Alan Kerr Motorhomes ?

Well others may have had good or bad experiences, I’ve bought two motorhomes of Simon, the Sonic at Howard’s, great deal great experience and unexpectedly got me into an A class, and the carthago from Kerrs. I had nothing but a good experience from both, admittedly on the day of pick up on the Carthago we had a few hours delays that realistically could have been avoided by an hour (nothing worth bothering about in the great scheme of things) the other stuff that delayed me was for my benefit! He wouldn’t let me leave until the door was fitted perfectly and the satellite dish was spot on and after update and inspections we eventually got away. I honestly feel that I wouldn’t be in an A class Carthago without all the hard work Simon put in to get me the deal I could afford. I KNOW what he had the Carthago in at, and with the deal he gave me, he would have been lucky to have made a £1000 out of it, so from Val and myself, thanks👍
Also last time Val told me my belt was missing a loop in my trousers at the back which means she was looking at my bum😂😂😂😘😘😘 you sir, are punching!!!

I wish the other 997 out of the 1000 vans I sold this year would jump to my defence to say the experience was good!

I can only speak from personal experience, but when I ordered my Bailey from Simon there were, thanks to Covid, all sorts of delays and supply problems. Simon was on the phone, emails to me on a regular basis. None of the delays or the lack of supplies were his fault but he was taking responsibility for them. And he stuck to his promised price. In fact he went beyond that and gave me a great deal. I cannot imagine many dealers going to these lengths. I live many miles from the dealership but would not hesitate to return. So yes, I am more than happy and willing to be one to jump to Simon’s defence.
Happy Birthday tomorrow Simon. 👍

It’s how potential customers will probably read it
It’s really not, I am a potential customer and it does nothing but make me think you are being unreasonable and Simon-Alan Kerr cant win.

How many dealers participate in forums? The answer is virtually none, for all the reasons clearly on display in this thread. The very fact they are prepared to engage makes me want to buy from them.

The poor guy was trashed by a customer and he chose to reasonably respond with their side of the story. Then you see fit to remind him who pays for his dinner?

It really did come across as rude and patronising at best.

Nobody should be expected to put up with unreasonable behaviour, regardless who pays.

It‘s good to respond. Shows a passion which any business owner must have.

I for one wasn’t really aware you’d taken over the company as previous experiences post purchase weren’t good and to be frank, we didn’t really want to have anything more to do with Alan Kerr, hence responding to the OP’s question.

But it‘s refreshing to read your posts in this thread and I feel more confident now that things have changed from the experiences of a few years back. You will always get customers who want the moon on a stick…and times when customers genuinely feel they are having the pee taken.

It would be good to feel we could use your services again as we’re Totnes way and not far.

Simon, enjoy your evening!

A friend of ours is currently looking at a second hand Autotrail from Alan Kerr in Paignton but is concerned about after sales customer service ( what could go wrong with an Autotrail).
Has anyone on here had any recent dealings with them, any customer feedback would be helpful.
TIA
I've purchased 5 motorhomes from Simon at Alan Kerr and he is literally amazing. Absolutely recommend them. Never had an issue. I also have friends who have purchased from him.

That’s exactly what I’m talking about
It’s all about YOU

How much money YOU spent

His many hours YOU invested

It’s YOUR night out

You need to re focus and consider your customer
Really!!!!

What an amazing first post on the forum
Well its not as if he/she just joined tonight to jump to Simons defence. Im not agreeing or disagreeing with your posts on this thread but have to say I'm somewhat amused your breaking the mould of what always seems to be an unwritten rule of business owners always jumping to other business owners defence ... At least thats my perspective.

I am also as a director on a Friday night on the eve of my birthday out with dinner with my friends and family sat on here trying to help! Whilst getting death glares from my other half!!
Happy Birthday Simon, I saw the length you went to in order to please, even drove the Hymer back to self level company to have it checked out, Rob and Bailey and yourself worked so hard for weeks , it was a used Motorhome not brand new. Roy and I would buy off you again any day, are sorry your efforts aren’t appreciated, so put your phone away and enjoy your birthday celebration 🍾

Hi Guys, I run a mid sized motorhome hire company in Leicestershire. Leicester Campers Limited. I regularly get stock from Alan Kerr, great service and competitive prices. I've been using them for a couple of years now and have no complaints. Any issues I've had that couldn't be sorted locally have been dealt with effectively by Alan Kerr Ltd. I would say that some people would rather drive 5 hours for a £100 fix than just get a local caravan tech to sort it, for half the cost of the diesel not to mention the lost day. I've already ordered my 2023 stock from Simon. If you want a new van I recommend ordering soon!! Nice to be on here and always willing to talk and help. All the best for a great season, David.

I used to buy alan kerrs holiday homes they took in part exchange for motorhomes and I was 300 miles away and never saw them till they arrived on a transporter and never was one any problem and not as described unlike other dealers I dealt with in the end I got so fed up with retail to moaning old people you could never please I got out of retailing units.Whatever you do you can not please everyone and in retail you get no private time especially since the advent of mobile phones.

I haven't dealt with Kerrs but I have dealt with Simon-Alan Kerr when he was at Howards. We agreed a good deal and I gave him a long list of things that needed to be rectified prior to collection all of these were done as Simon promised they would be. Although PimaLeisure (Bailey Parts) did their best to prevent it. As regards warranty work I had the option of using the insurance backed warranty at a local agent or returning to Howards, both of which I used without problem.

Would I deal with Simon again? Yes I would, at Kerrs or wherever he deals from. I think you can trust his word, which is increasingly uncommon these days.

C’mon Simon, meal must’ve been ruined & it’s almost birthday treat time!
Turn the phone off
I agree. I did suggest that some time back but he keeps logging in! I would keep my business out of a lounge forum to avoid exactly what has happened.

What did I miss can u get it on catch up?!!!🤣🤣
He got banned for going off on a bizarre rant aimed at a few innocent funsters.

I'm still not sure what it was about. It involved a motorbike booking for a ferry and 4 quid.

The phrase 'you and your kind' was mentioned and he was swiftly sent to Coventry.

Simon-Alan Kerr, I’ve never met you and unlikely to meet you in the future unless I win the lottery but having seen your posts over the past 12 months if I was in the market I would buy a van on the blind in the morning. You have always came across to me as 100% genuine. So don’t let them grind you down.
My birthday is over in 3 mins so please enjoy yours and knock back the stares from your wife!

I’ve bought from Kerr’s (see much earlier in this thread), I’ve no idea if I’ve met Simon or not, when I bought I dealt with a salesman who was helpful, was I impressed, did they answer my questions, maybe to the first, yes to the second.
Simon has made a potential customer for service work (if I can’t get it done locally) out of me tonight, I can understand that some customers are/were underwhelmed, his responses on here tonight have seemed genuine & that he has spent time when I really don’t believe it was necessary , especially when celebrating to his detriment, has endeared me to Kerr’s.
I’m off to vanbitz on Monday, I know that they are well respected by funsters, I hope that I shall receive the same tlc as Simon has shown to his previous customers from them (I know I shall as I’ve been corresponding with Ash)

now I know this is a forum that encourages opinions and all that and a dam good forum it is!…..BUT it is hilarious sometimes reading the “keyboard warriors” who like to have a dig from behind whatever device they are using…always wonder if they would do the same face to face 🤪
