The subject of dumping a black tank has been discussed on here before, in depth. You can dump it wherever you dump your grey! They both go into the sewer. So in answer to your question it is easy.

Sorry but that's not correct on some sites the grey goes into a soak away which you should not put black waste down. This was the case at the Antwerp site we were at a few days ago, the grey was simply a road drain at the back of the site with a sign in several languages saying grey only.

You cannot put grey into a soak away, the fats etc will eventually clog the sump, aside from which I believe it is against EU law.

If anyone can work out how to get it delivered to Campirama Hymer dealership in Belgium, we will be there next week and would happily bring it back.

If you put grey water on to your hand you will find its mainly soapy water, any fat is emulsified. Bagwell campsite near Weymouth have grey waste on your pitch but you are not allowed to put black down it, for black theirs a dump at the bottom of the site. When we stayed at Westwood near Ipswich it was the same. Just two off the top of my head.

This has been debated at length in the past and members on here who have worked in the industry have confirmed that in Europe there are only 2 waste water systems, sewage and surface water.
I agree many sites do identify wastes as grey only. When you see how some cassette users try to dump unmacerated black waste down 40mm pipes you can understand why site owners have to try to dissuade them. However this does not change the fact that their grey has to go into the sewage system. You only have to track where both wastes go to see that this is correct.

I believe Eddie at vanbitz has to pay for black waste to be removed from his campsite as its classed as hazardous waste because of the chemicals some people use, I assume he can put grey down the sewer.

Found his post about this, he has a chemical treatment plant on site for his amenity block as he's not on mains sewer, but the black is as I said, he quotes £150 per 1000 litres to have it carted away.

So para one he has a sewer, para 2 he doesn't. How about you do what you feel comfortable with and we end this exchange.

What I feel comfortable doing is what sites ask me to do whether I think they are correct or not but each to their own.

Excellent, putting grey down a surface drain as you say the site instructed; as you quoted in post 31, "the grey was simply a road drain at the back of the site", it is the same as draining grey in the street. Not something I would do, but each to his own as you say!

You said you can dump black where you dump grey, I was simply pointing out that some sites ask you not to do that.

We have no mains drainage at Cornish Farm Touring Park

We have two dedicated black waste points, each going into a holding tank (cess pit) both of which have to be emptied by a specialist carrier, as it is deemed hazardous waste.

All other waste water including grey water goes through our chemical treatment unit, and pumped out into a huge gravel soak away, as directed by the environment agency when they granted our licence to discharge

We are unusual in this, so everyone is right, as if we were on mains drainage we could just dump black and grey together (y)

Any ideas, apart from a visit to Germany

This is who I bought from last time although the 5kg bucket, open link in Chrome browser for real time translation.
Thanks Micheal
That was one of the two German sites I tried. But looking at their delivery details it does say dispatch within Germany only

Wierd I bought a 5kg pack from them in August before I came away and previously a 1kg pack which I tested with and have on board now
Others have commented on the high delivery cost in this thread so it's a very recent thing. They use Hermes. Did you go through the order process using PayPal that is what I did.

Hi Micheal
Yes you were right, just ordered some, same delivery cost of 18.90 Euro regardless of purchasing the 1kg or 5kg... so I have just ordered 5 kg which should last me forever with one little cassette....

Need to store it in an air/ damproof container otherwise it goes solid, not that you cannot break it up just lumpy when you do. Dissolves in water.

I have no access to my black tank apart from what goes down the toilet, will this cause any damage to the macerator? In the chemical sense not the physical.

What does it do to septic tanks?

Exactly the same as the Ammovit product as it's chemically the same barring the few grms of Calcium Carbonate (chalk) in there.

I know what i'd be buying....

My other hobby persuades me to search out source materials vs paying for branded wonder potions.

I'll happily buy some and try it out on my grey tank (don't have a black tank)

I put mine down the toilet (which has a built in macerator) having dissolved a couple of tablespoons in water in an old jug. Flushed it a couple of times. No physical damage that I can see and it's the way all the Germans do it and some have for years.

I am sure will have a porcelain toilet Michael (y) but didn't I read that if the Ammovit gets onto plastic it can/will stain.

I have to say I was tempted by your post with the basic products, but as the amounts used in the tanks are relatively minimal and the saving for the raw majority element not huge and of course I have 5kg anyway so will review your suggestion maybe in a couple of years when I next order.

The subject of dumping a black tank has been discussed on here before, in depth. You can dump it wherever you dump your grey! They both go into the sewer. So in answer to your question it is easy.
If you have a macerating toilet it reduces the waste to a slurry on its way to the tank. At a dump it is not particularly noticeable and often you will find that the grey smells more pungent than the black. However I have found that Ammovit turns the slurry into a liquid. I am led to believe that it helps to keep the tank clean too.
Over time we have found that a 2 ply toilet paper recommended for vacuum toilets provides the best of practical use and eradication in the macerating process.

No, you cannot always dump black where you dump grey.

Not all drains are sewer connected.

Certain sites in France and Spain note this.

Thanks for this, ordered and paid for. We have quite smelly tanks on our RV so will report back. As an aside where we used to winter in Portugal all went into one albeit through two different emptying points. It was then emptied by tanker As I assume they weren’t on mains drainage. In Spain two emptying points but my husband asked if we could empty ours into just one and they said ultimately all went into sewer.
