Hi, we are about to buy our first Apache 700motorhome and would appreciate a little advice.
We are looking at a 2.8 2006 and also 2.3 2008 facelift model.
Which in your opinion is the better vehicle.
The older one is a private sale (well looked after and maintained, SE model) and the other is from a dealer (warranty, little history?)
Any help please!

I have had both of these... A 2005 model was my last van, now have a 2012..

The 2006 will be solid and in my opinion a better build inside. The 2.8jtd is well proved BUT will drive like a van...
These had original narrow van chassis and it should be 3850kg max weight.

The 2008 on the new Ducato x250 will drive better (my view) more car like. Been around a while but popular engine / cab.
Build went down a bit internally but 2008 not so bad as what they make now. Should be on a 4000kg chassis and it will be the wider chassis that was made for motorhome use. Does not sway as much..

All down to price i guess, some of the older vans are really holding the price. Some comeback to the dealer but none to the private sale ( unless its a total nail and you go legal). Want to share the prices ???

Thank you for the info - food for thought. Price for the 2006 38k miles is £25k, 2008 is £26995 but not SE.

Dont worry ref the SE... It was only a badge for the earlier models to show it had a multimedia system (dated now).
They dropped it on later models but the basic spec is all the same. (y)

I sold my 2005 van 6 1/2 years ago for £24,500.... I see vans of that age still be advertised around that price but i think its to high.
£2k extra for a newer van and some comeback sounds the deal to me BUT I would still have to barter down to at least another £1k :D
It should have had a cam belt changed this year so thats one thing to check otherwise a £400ish bill will be due.

Is £34k to high ?? I have a 2012 euro 5 model.. ;)

Tell the dealer you have the £26k and thats it... Worth a shot if thats the van you want.
My previous 700 was £34k on the forecourt, told them i had £30k and was off to look at another van..
Had a call offering a deal at £32k but refused and said £30k was max... GOT IT (y)
Sold for the £24.500 6 years later so not to bad a deal..
