Why do you want to take a horse with you, leave it at home like everyone else does.

Where do you park yours when you unhitch it from the front?
Surely you don't leave it out in the cold and wet?

Just a guess but I doubt it very much.
Nobody is going to the expense of design and production of something for which there will be very little, if any, demand.

modify the existing door ?

If you're not handy at DIY then any of the motorhome convertors would probably do it ..

for example

No we take it to Spain, takes 2 months to get there though.

Sure I read something somewhere that suggested it is a safety issue ???

the manufacturers dont fit stable doors to motorhomes anymore as they dont have burst proof locks

I think that there might be a bit of demand for the stable door, we certainly wanted one when we chose our van because you can have to top bit open for ventilation and the bottom closed to keep the dog in. As it is, we have to use the midge screen across which is fine until the wind blows the door shut and pops the screen out...

Interesting and explains why we didn’t get anywhere with our search!

I still think that there should be some mind put to this by the manufacturers, a lock on top and bottom half of door would (I’d have thought) got round the burst proof issue.

We use an adapted baby gate in our camper, works a treat.

I've got a "stable" door and it is fantastic. I use it often, especially if other folk are in the vicinity.

Having the top open and the bottom closed says you can, if you really, really want, approach and exchange some words...

But you are not coming in.

Yes, I believe there was a safety 'issue' about them not being being burst proof .. but I think they just went out of fashion, no demand and it's cheaper and easier to make a door rigid and secure if it's in one piece.

Had them on several caravans and thought they were great.. ventilation without a draught at the floor.. and also keep small kids inside.. but never had one on a camper.

What I don't like are doors with windows.. especially the latest fashion for the long thin windows.. it's easy enough to break in without making it easier with a window in a door that can easily be jemmied and the lock accessed

Any kind of stable door, whether house or van requires a great design and low usage if it’s going to prevent driving rain getting in.
Also much more needed with hinges and bolts which equal starter cost and repair costs. Possible but won’t become commonplace I doubt.

Love the baby gate idea though!
