Customers who ask 'oh are the toilets closed'? when there's a big yellow board outside that says CLOSED CLEANING IN PROGRESS, a notice on the door that says CLOSED PLEASE USE THE OTHER BLOCK & the door is locked. How plain can we make it!!!

A close friend, who 'wardens' on a site in summer, enlightens us with the many stupid questions he gets asked. The last one was a guy asking if he could walk into town from here (the site). My buddy gets a little tired of inane questions and responded with 'you can walk to anywhere from here mate'. So, you can see, it's not just us campers who have pet hates.

Captain, such a simple question and look what you have started, :ROFLMAO:

1) Dogs that are left in vans to bark.

2) Children who do not know the meaning of talking and have to shout all the time.

3) The one I most dislike is people rinsing their cassette under drinking taps, turns my stomach.

4) Jobs worth.

5) People who think after 12am its ok to carry on talking in loud voices outside your van, because they are having a late night.

The minority of people who are able to erect their tents efficiently on windy days.

Where's the entertainment value in that?

Oh no.....!

Oh no, now you've alienated the many, many FUNsters who can't afford a proper Motorhome.
Hmm, I'm new around here, but am beginning to think I joined the wrong forum! :Eeek: Should've understood from the name really but I've been a bit too slow on the uptake, and paid my £10 and everything. My 'van is definitely a campervan, not a motorhome. Not only that, even in campervan-land it is the titch of the bunch. A micro van for one. AND it has a sliding door. :winky: So I seem to be a source of annoyance for a lot of you already!

Still, I don't have any children, don't play the guitar, sing loudly at night or walk across other people's pitches... :roflmto:

Don"t worry, you haven't joined the wrong forum. Most of what has been said in this thread is tongue in cheek and aimed at someone they know and have a personal joke with. You will soon see that it is the done thing to slag off each others choice of motorhome, but always in good humour.

Now I think I have a Classic Hymer, others think it's falling apart and should have been on the scrap heap years ago. :ROFLMAO:

For us, one of the biggest and best aspects of motorhoming is the socialising.. And sorry to say that often involves sitting round on a warm evening chatting away and putting the world to rights.. So for those that prefer folk not to chat past sun down, please please park well away from us :thumb:

As mentioned by others, sliding doors..
I can put up with gennies running all night, kids shouting and hollering, 90% naked hairy old fat men wandering around, and yes, even ball games around the van providing reasonable care is taken.. But sliding doors ? Jeeze.. And the owners ALWAYS seem to want a wee or to howl at the moon or something at least 5 times a night !!!
Every time I get woken by the BANG as the door is closed.

Oh and yes, as also mentioned, a heard of signs saying what can and cannot be done.. I am ( I hate to admit ) one of lifes minor anarchists .. Dislike authority when it is wielded by jumped up brown shirts ( I just LOVE that euphemism now !! ) who have little or no people skills, and have been handed a wee bit of power !! ( so that will encompass many C C [STRIKE]warders[/STRIKE]... sorry, wardens..

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: we should have done. I don't think I have ever met such bold children. We ended up hiding the boat under the van and giving a dire warning that the big dog didn't like children so don't go too close, this seemed to do the trick as the went back to wherever they had come from.

There was a similar thread on the CC website recently, we aired our views about "out of control" children and how it annoyed us and suggested that more parental control was necessary and you should have read some of the comments we got back at us:whatthe:

"Well, you obviously have never brought up children of your own"! said one CC member:whatthe:
Eh, actually yes we did, but they were never loud or caused a nuisance to others", we replied. Then someone had the nerve to come back and suggest that children should be allowed freedom to play.
We responded by saying, "Of course they should, but that doesn't include bouncing balls in and around other people's pitches and yelling at the tops of their voices, does it!?
What annoys us is when several extended families appear on a site and they all pitch up around each other. The bikes, scooters, balls and the dreaded frizbees are brought out and the screaming at the tops of the voices start..........it seemed like a "takeover" on a CC site on the last Bank Holiday weekend:Doh:
There's a lot to be said for "adult only" sites, but seriously, I think the wisest thing is to avoid going away over BH weekends and the dread school hols:RollEyes:

People who have too much equipment/gear and stuff for the size of their pitch and end up spreading themselves "outside" the pitch. We watched a family with three kids plus all the toys, bikes, scooters, table + tennis set, bbq, loungers, small lounger thingies for the kids as well, another small table for drinks etc, chairs, caravan, 4 x 4, plus awning set up opposite us recently.

The interesting thing we noticed was that despite having all the gear, the kids looked bored out of their minds after the first hour and the parents did nothing else but lie stretched out on the loungers for most of the time they were there.

They had overspilled onto the road within the site and the people next to us joked that they should be paying for two pitches with that lot:roflmto:
On a upside to that, it was like "clockwork" watching them pack it all away on the day they left.

Children that scream. when I was a child my grandmother told me that you should only scream if being attacked or have been an accident. I told my children the same, hence..no screaming.

We found ourselves surrounded by a group of about 5 or 6 children on the CC site at Wharfedale last year, it was half-term in October. The idea of the game was to scream "loudly" from 1 to 10 and whichever child reached 10 first shouted, "I've won, aaarrrrggghhhh!!! This screaming went on for about 10 minutes and got louder and screechier with each attempt, at that point we decided lunch in the pub might be the best idea.
Haven't a clue where the parents were...........possibly at the pub leaving everyone else to suffer the noise:RollEyes:

well here is a new one for you

Children who think they can just go on anyones pitch and take whatever toy, bike etc they fancy and go and play with it without asking.

Then when they are bored with it just leave it on their pitch amongst their toys as if it belongs to them

Saw a lot of this in the last two weeks. Lots of parents horrified and up in arms over it

This is not a poll but a chance to share your grumpiness:Angry:

The question is "what irritates you when you are camping?"

At the surefire risk of offending some.... my biggest bug is campervan sliding doors. I am sure you know the sound I mean........ that early morning/late night.....

Whooooooooooosh....... (you know what's coming)...... CLUNK..... as the sliding door gets flung open or closed.

So???????????????????????

That's why we got one, :winky: had years of people with sliding door's.

So now it's pay back time. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: :Tongue1:

As already mentioned, don't worry about Brian.....he's just pulling peoples' legs. In real life he's a big pussycat and models himself on Timmy Mallet ::bigsmile:

However, on behalf of motorhutch owners world-wide, rest assured that he will be reprimanded at the Malvern show for campervan-ism.

Oh dear, I love to hear people playing their guitars, harmonicas etc. I love to see children playing and enjoying themselves, I love to see extended families all together with their dogs and children, I see someone crossing the pitch as an opportunity to greet and chat, I have a tiny ancient van which is my pride and joy and I was never aware that everyone was sooooo uptight. I like to think I'm a considerate camper but I'll be feeling a bit tense in future with my daughter, guitar and dogs lest I unknowingly offend. I must confess, my heart does rather sink when I see a field of large, fancy motorhomes and now I think I know why. I much prefer to see tents and little classic campers. Despite a lot of what has been said being tongue in cheek, I can't help thinking that many a true word is said in jest. Yikes!:Eeek:

I too enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy campsite even though my children are grown up. What I dislike is rude and ignorant people whose children have no manners. I brought my children up to enjoy themselves but to be polite and respectful. I work in a secondary school and am appalled on a daily basis at the behaviour of our next generation. ( crikey, I sound ancient!!! ) lack of respect for teachers and adults in general, rude, ignorant and as for their language....just plain disgusting. I am no angel, my language can be ripe, especially where other idiot road users are concerned but what comes out if their mouths is truly horrifying. There is nothing worse than hearing young girls using foul language. Holidaying is a time for relaxing and chilling out whether on your own or in a large group. I have had a brilliant time on both types of holiday. But be warned if your children kick their ball near my van they will incur my wrath!! ::bigsmile:

Some years ago we were staying on site in Spain, we were having a late drink with a Dutch couple and probably making more noise than was acceptable at 2am. The night watchman had been visiting regularly since midnight and finally enough was enough and was to have us removed from the site the next day.

He recorded in his note book our name rank and number and said the office will be in touch first thing.

Only problem being was my Dutch comrade in perfect German had given him the name rank and number of two of his German neighbours.:roflmto:

We were were both leaving anyway but the situation between these Germans and the site manager was something very special.:winky:

Slightly off topic but I thought I would share.

We are on holiday in Normandy with the whole family.

Last week in the pool an unruly element of Dutch youths started playing water polo with the ball flying everywhere.

On one occaision the ball landed by my mother and quick as a flash she heaved the ball clean out of the pool area. Stunned silence followed by laughter::bigsmile:

Dutch youths are annoying.

Business opportunity

Seriously 'Funsters', I see a business opportunity for someone here. A senior citizens site with no children, no dogs, no smokers, high voltage electric fences surrounding pitches and hard standing with gates with security codes and no sound at all but the hiss of posh barbecues, the rumble of generators and the softly competing satellite T.V. Channels.:shout:
Meanwhile, I am seriously considering retiring from my current profession and running a site. You may not wish to visit. There will be no defined pitches and children, dogs and acoustic instruments will be actively encouraged. The daylight would ideally ring with the sounds of the excited whoops of children as they play together and yes, the occasional gentle thump of a ball, frisbee or kite on the tent or van. ( What are these big posh motorhomes made of? Tinfoil?) At night the campers would be encouraged to gather round the fire to jam with their acoustic instruments. ( One site I stayed at gave you free camping if you played music and welcomed others to your fire-good idea I thought.:thumb:)

Now calm down,I wouldn't want anyone to get trampled in the rush to book.
Happy camping.:winky:

Since 2008 after caravanning for 20 years
Had a really funny one a couple of weeks ago. Pitched up where directed by site owner and sitting having lunch under the awning and a panel van rolled up, "You'll have to move that's my pitch!". Transpires this guy had been on our pitch until an hour ago. Told him I'm parked where I was told, "Soon sort this out" and he stormed off. Came back a few minutes later a bit humbled and pitched up next door.

Seems his hook-up hadn't been working so he just changed pitches, then gone off in his van for lunch without leaving a marker on his pitch.

He parked up and found he did have power now, transpires he'd only had the van a few days and this was his first outing! How to win friends!

Had a good chat to him and gave him a few pointers, hope he listened because he should be in France by now.
