That's cheap Larry.

My audi A6 has told me (it speaks to me) it needs to be inspected and have its oil changed...I've done 19k in 8 months and it will cost a few pound short of £500 oh I need two tyres a well on the front at a staggering £245 each. .

But listen to this...they will do it whilst I wait and they supply WiFi an inspection zone and last but not least. ..COFFEE. .

Can't wait...
Ah yes but my Audi dealer did direct me where to park and as it was raining the attendant was Armed with a big brolly so I didn't get wet.
Didn't make to bill any easier but at least I was dry.

Not long enough!
Two posts above have said £70 and £80 just for oil! Can I ask what type of oil? My 2.8jtd takes 7ltrs so I buy 10ltrs for less than £20.

Chip fat oil is cheaper

Am at hymers ho in bad waldsee.
Eur99 for damp check for warranty purposes. How come UK dealers charge so much more? ???

The underbody spray appears to be carried over from when they had a ply wood floor. I can't see anything under ours that would need it now. Lowdhams charged us £135 for the damp check and spray, though they did find a high reading in the rear locker which resulted in a new locker door and seals under warranty.
I had just washed it prior to taking it in and put the collapsible bucket and brush back in there. I think they had just detected a high reading because of that.

Most manufacturers require a damp check every year in order to maintain their damp penetration warranty. It is in order to spot any leaks before they do any harm. Not sure about what the underspray part is for, but I knew all this before I bought the motorhome. Unlike some Hymer do not require a yearly habitation check as well.

Yes when I spoke to them yesterday , no need for habitation check just get sorted as or if any problems occur.

I've just picked my car up from the BMW garage after being serviced and now I need picking up after paying the bill. LL04 0W30 oil £10 per litre oil filter £17.58, Diesel filter £41.59. Labour charged @ a staggering £164 (vat inc) per hour. I'm sure that my solicitor does'nt charge that much! Not much change out of £600 but that did include it's first MOT

Did you not get a price first? I always do.

We both have Honda cars and Honda main dealer services usually work out between £180 and £280 each depending upon what is required to be carried out for the service. MOT is always free for the wife's car because she bought it off them from new over 10 years ago. And for my car I bought a Honda service plan, which covered all routine servicing for the first 5 years for £695. Needless to say we are very happy with the Honda dealer we use (who is not our nearest one).

@peterc10 just reading my Hymer instruction manual and
"Sect 11.1.7 Underbody
The underbody of the vehicle is partly coated with age resistant underbody protection. Should the underbody protection be damaged, repair immediately. Do not treat areas coated with underbody protection with spray oil."

Interesting, I wonder if the underbody spray was necessary on earlier models and maybe not now.
Will find out when I visit Becks.

I thought all the new Hymer vans were wood free, therefore nothing to rot.
Why the need for a spray, and what sort of spray needs reapplying yearly. Will be very interested to know when you find out, which am sure you will

Having read the manual as above it seems it may well not be necessary.

According to Becks you need the yearly damp check and spray in order to maintain the water ingress warranty
... but they're the ones getting paid to do the work ... I'd be asking Hymer directly!

Campirama in Belgium only charge €60.

The spray is just expensive underseal and they only spray it on cable and pipe entry points that are already well sealed completely unnecessary.

Fully synthetic oil is used in modern Fiat engines. You won't buy that for £2 per litre.
Our local independent charges 20 quid for the 6.5 Lt needed for the Fiat.

Just got a quote from my Fiat dealer for by-annual service on motorhome, plus cambelt and waterpump. £1054.00. The service alone was around the £800 and I asked how come this was almost twice as much as previous by-annual service costs I had with them and he said I had received numerous discounts which were no longer available to me. They walk amongst us.

well I am back with the Audi. Got sold a service plan which made it £80 cheaper but needed two front tyres which made it £480 more !!! £240 pound a tyre and they only lasted 17000 miles. No bloke with an umbrella but a nice courtesy car and a beautiful cup of coffee in proper china. Well worth it...

Rip off? nah, just the going rate I suppose.

I knew I'd find it if I looked hard enough @Larrynwin (it was still in the van in the service book). Invoice for a three year service, MOT and hab check on the Bailey by Becks at Rollesby, June 2016.

Change engine oil and filter. (6lts @£7.54lt)
Replace air filter.
Remove all road wheels, clean and check braking system
Removebrake fluid, refill and bleed system.
Reassemble and check tyres, pressures and exhaust system.
Grease locks and linkages.
Test drive. £247.50
Hab service £162.50 (Inc all gas, electrical and water systems but excluding fridge service unless specifically asked for).
Labour £410
Parts £93.46
VAT £100.69
MOT £54.00
Total £658.15

Swallowed a bit when I got the bill but probably never took in what was on the menu so didn't consider it too bad after all. I could have had another cruise for that. :)

Whole hab check thing is a rip off. Its either is guaranteed or is not. Says a lot about the quality of stuff these days if it needs checking every year. My hab and engine service due in March so will cost £600 just so the ruddy warranty is still in place:-(
